I'm not trying to sound dumb but do u make more with less miles? I'm told I'll get .31 mile and $20 stop loads. Does that sound better than .36 with Schneider?
-
How do I make sure I get the same perks ur talking about?my route is dedicated- is that what u are?
-
Yes I'm pretty much dedicated. I run the same area every week. They consider me shortline but yes same thing. If you can get on the furniture loads you will make a lot more money than .36 a mile.
Just figure this on average your gonna run Regional prob 2500 miles a week. That's 900 gross. But your probably not gonna get 2500 even being Regional. I hear most are 2000-2200. On average I put off 20 stops for a low end and 30 for a high end a week. So average 25 plus miles. I'm probably 2200 average. Most times I'm 2500-2600. Just using averages you are gonna be almost 1200 a week and prob home more and work less. Plus you will have regular hours. Furniture stores are mostly 8-5 businesses so that's pretty much your working hours. Plus you will get mileage raises here pretty quick.
You have to get mileage out of your head if you are gonna run stops. Worry about stops not miles. hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions -
Looking at the gross pay, I make more on stops every week than I do off mileage.

Ya that's great info I'm already getting myself ready to go with them since ur info! Yesterday I spoke to them early and truthfully I was like #### that but I'm glad to hear it's sounding more like I thought it would be. I like freedom- not being micromanaged and I figured dedicated would be better for me since I like more consistency and the going solo quick thing got me. I'm ok traveling for work but I love my home life- I'm not into otrbigtruckin89 Thanks this.

Does the furniture originate from the Carolinas? Or is it the Home Depot stuff?
-
We get a lot of it down here in MS and they have a lot in NC as well. But there is a big Home Depot deal down there also. But a lot of that furniture comes in on containers as well. Good thing about Watkins also is if you are hauling furniture the loads you haul originate at the terminal. So no sitting in a dock with your clock running.
Yeah OTR isn't what I wanted either. Matter of fact I wanted local out the gate but I love what I do here and i will never find a local job for what I make here. -
No #### that's exactly what I want but good money is good money lol! Did u go to the NC training? I know it's 2 weeks staying at hotel I think? Can u tell me about it

Man thanks so much for the info!
