Had trouble getting the cap on a new U-joint? We all start somewhere and it's obvious little things create big problems. Not all caps are like this but, keep in mind to look first some do have a needle bearing protector that slides out before use. May not be worth a plug nickel but, this may save someone a lot of frustration.

    New shocks as well!

For as simple as u-joints are, they can be some of the hardest things to deal with. I have not seen those needle protectors before, thanks for the tip!

I always take a finger full of clean grease around the needles,it usually holds the needles in place (oh yeah removing the grease zerk helps the cap set as the grease doesn't hydro lock just pushes the grease out) a little trick that has served me well over the years

Yes you are correct, giving air away to escape helps. I always add more with my finger too, Grease is one of the cheapest things you can buy. ;)

Sweet! You are wise to change out the air lines at the same time no more than they cost. It has been my experience that DOT inspectors can almost always pick air lines apart just for minor exterior cracking.

Lol, I've had about everything on the back of the truck apart, and I put anti seize on about everything :). Nice when it has to come back apart.

Heavyd, SAR, Oxbow and 1 other person Thank this.
