Ok so here's the deal. My husband has 1 year experience and I have zero - I'm planning on going to CDL school this spring. I've gone with him a few times for 8-10 days each time. I love being on the road with him. We'd like to team. Our home base is Minnesota as you could probably tell by my profile name.
We've looked at some of the biggies because they take drivers w/o experience but hubby not too excited about going to a big company. He currently drives for an owner operator, speed limited @ 70, and gets paid 40cpm. He is worried about some of the biggies not getting us the miles and some of the issues they have (speed limiters, cameras, poorly maintained equipment, etc). I'm looking at USXpress because they will let him train me.
Are there any big or small companies you experienced drivers can recommend for husband/wife teams who are willing to work and be out for several weeks at a time? Our kids are grown so we aren't concerned about home time as much.
Please and thank you!!

Kottke Trucking Buffalo Lake MN. Would be the first one on my list.
Pam in MN Thanks this. -
Their website doesn't say they run teams but we'll contact them.
Appreciate it - Thanks! -
TWT Refrigerated Service - teams split .60 cpm and trucks set up for driver comfort; Tripac APU, refrigerator, etc.
Covenant Transport - teams need hazmat endorsement
Abilene Motor Express - trucks run 72 mph.
Freymiller
Green Transportation - Holland, Michigan
As far as cameras, drivers cover them unless running down the highway.
All the above hire new cdl grads. Maybe if your husband goes to a new company while you're in school, then he can train you when you graduate. I really don't know all the policies for each company.Last edited: Mar 20, 2017
