I'm getting by in my new job okay since December and even paying down some debts while basically living cheap out of the truck. Also, since I run out for 2 weeks and 'home' for 3 days, it just doesn't seem worth it to pay for a home or rent an apartment.
For mail and packages, there doesn't seem like a big difference between setting up a P.O. Box or PMB, but is there a main difference if this is my Home Address on my license? Can someone even have a P.O. Box on their CDL?
I've also heard that if a person for example had a rented PMB they can write it up in the address as a Suite number so it resembles an Apartment address. Just a small thing, but I wonder if it would look better on job applications if at some point I decide to move to another job after getting experience.
P.O. Box Vs. Personal Mail Box?

You have to have a physical address. Do you have a family members you can use? Or use a personal mailbox.

Some states cross check the address to see if it's a mailbox, business address or residence.
Trucking companies want the same address on your license as on the job application.
Some people use UPS (United Parcel Service) store as an address if that store has personal mail boxes. UPS doesn't use PO Box on the address either. Ask a UPS store how they set this up. You need something like Apt. # even if it's a UPS address.
If you have a relative or friend that will let you use their address, then download a lease agreement or rent agreement off the internet and put on there "utilities furnished" so you don't have to show utility bills in your name. You can show you're paying rent even if you're not just to make it look better.
Your mailing address can be different from your physical address.Last edited: Mar 21, 2017

That is exactly what I did when I got started @VIDEODROME . I ran OTR for 3 years and had no reason to rent an apartment. The PMB number looked just like an apartment number on my license. It worked well for 3 plus years. But after reading the above posts, it seems times have changed. It's pretty sad that DHS sees US truck drivers as a potential threat to this country. Especially since the number of terror attacks in this country by a US truck driver is ...None?

We had a po box after we sold our house. We were home 2 days a week and lived with my wife's grandparents until we found a new home approx 1 year. Our license showed their address but all mail went to po box. Work had both addresses never asked for utility bill. To get their address for our license we changed a phone bill to their address tlfor a month or so and changed it back to po box.
