Ok I know this is somewhat of a Ford vs Chevy type of question, but I'm nearly illiterate when it comes to CB's. So if y'all could maybe help me it would be much appreciated.

I'm getting a new truck next month, and I want a good CB in it. I've been using a stock Cobra 29 and just a cheap Fire stick antenna. It serves the purpose just fine, but it stays with my current truck.

So I've been looking at radios and I'm lost. I was thinking a Connex 3300, and maybe a Wilson 2000 antenna. I don't need it to blow anyone's eardrums out, and I don't need all the TalkBack, echo, noise toys, or anything of that nature. Just a good CB that does the job a little better than my current setup.

    Any suggestions?

Edit: does anybody make a CB guide for idiots? I could use one of them too

How much you willing to spend? In all honesty. To get the biggest Bang for your buck, and make a noticeable difference that people will notice, Just keep what you got and stick a 2-pill Amp behind it...(may need to upgrade your antenna if the one you have can't handle the watts)

I agree with ridgeline you cant go wrong with a Cobra 29 but if you did want to get a dual final radio in a compact chassis without all the bells and whitles look at the new Galaxy 55 F, they have about 40 to 50 watts pep and retail for about $ 200.00, will you notice much difference in transmit and receive over the single final 29, thats for you to decide.

Galaxy radios are definitely worth taking a look at. I own two and can't complain. First one was given to me, a DX919, had freq. aligned and peaked to about 20 watts. I then upgraded to the old style DX44V. It was traded from a friend. It didn't work at the time so i went and had it fixed at the local CB shop. $80 later i was pushing 40 watts with aligned freq, and everything works correctly on the radio. I then upgraded my antenna to a 5' firestik, mounted above my drivers side tail light(Ford Ranger), with firestik hardware and heavy duty spring. 21' RG8X coax and i have radio wired to battery with a 5amp fuse. I have SWR 1.1 on ch. 1 and 1.2ish on ch. 40. I talk on SSB a lot, (26.885mhz) and i reach out 25+miles. I recommend galaxy radios and I've never had any problems out of the firestik. Cant complain, it holds up just fine at 60-65mph. I would like to test this antenna's bandwidth, since i can reach 10 meter and CB band with my 44. My only other thing i plan to add is to have a Texas Star 500 watt. I'll also upgrade to stainless steel antenna cause the 5' firestik is capable of 1000 watts but i know the performance and reception will be better with a whip.
