I think your list of things to bring about covers it.Youre playing it smart by buying some of your things when you get there.MidwestResident and HELLBlLLY Thank this.

I would add allergy meds. Generic loratadine or zertec. No Benedryl as it will make you drowsy. I would add a good hand cream as your hands will get dry and cracked.

Did not see any mention about bedding. I waited until I arrived in Missoula then purchased a sleeping bag from one of the local sporting goods stores. Liked that option better than carrying sheets/other bedding because it can be rolled up and transported pretty easily. I got hired by JPT out of CDL school in January 2017 and am out on my own now. Out of over 100 companies I did extensive research on - they were my first choice. I am in a 2016 Peterbuilt 579 which had 188,000 miles on it when I got it - nice truck!. Will be getting a fridge installed in the near future at the PRIME yard in Springfield MO. If you have additional questions, I will help as best I can, Welcome aboard.

Just thought I something else. For laundry detergent I brought some of those Tide Pods that have liquid detergent bound up in a plastic ball, They take up very little space and I put them in a zip lock bag.HELLBlLLY Thanks this.

Thanks deepdiver88. After years of research I'm finally starting and JP was my first choice as well. Farther down the thread I mentioned I was going to grab a sleeping bag and pillow from Walmart when I got to Missoula along with all the shampoo, shaving cream etc. Can you verify for me that JP has a shuttle that'll run you to Walmart?

All trucking companies seem to have that HELLBILLY shouldnt be a problem.
HELLBlLLY Thanks this. -
The company facility is located just down the road from the Missoula Airport. They put you up at the Days Inn and have a shuttle that transports you back and forth. I had a rental car when I was there so I went to the Sports Exchange for my sleeping bag. Nice selection and much cheaper than what Cabellas had to offer - also give a discount for military. They should be able to get you over to Walmart. Who was your recruiter?

Luke. A REALLY nice guy but I was worried at first because he has a very laid back attitude which I first mistook for uncaring. Almost like he was just going through the motions but knowing all along I wasn't going to make it. But again, I was wrong. Being from Philly, we're wound up pretty tight. Not too many people as chill as Luke is around here.

My recruiter was Alex and she was awesome. Out of all the companies I spoke with when in school - only 3 (JPT being one of those) kept in touch with me - calling me every week to see how school was going - wanting to know if I had any questions about the company. 90% of companies that hire new graduates told me "Call us once you are about two weeks from graduating" - Translation: Rookie drivers are a dime a dozen. JPT puts everything they tell you about pay and benefits in writing and stands behind it unlike some companies that promise you one thing then it's a completely different story once you report for Orientation.
