Doesn't sound like an attitude to me. You seem to be trying to resolve the issue, every way you can.

I believe I handled my last dip s### via phone. He called, and I explained to him we weren't having this conversation...and hung up on him.

Hanging up was important. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been that nice.

I have immense respect for someone who talks the talk, and walks the walk, where drivers are concerned. But have a very short fuse when dealing with a complete dumb### who think they know what I do day to day.

If everything you say is true...I think your boss is concerned for his own job. You are a possible future threat to his position. Even at 19

I was once told the art of diplomacy is to be able to call someone an ###…. and have them thank you for it. Over the years I had many drivers and a few bosses get pretty upset with me and I have learned that a gentle response can save a lot of grief. I have also seen where proving someone wrong may not always be in ones best interest. Remember age and treachery will always overcome youth and vitality.

this probably won't help you a lot because low experience

i drove a mixer too. the boss said spontaneously that he wants me to clean the truck cabin every day and exteriors once per week with water compressor so probably you should ask him. he told me also that he checks for any dry concrete every day and if not satisfied he will give me a hammer to clean all inside of the mixer. :biggrin_2555:^^
for 3 weeks he was even with me in the cabin but no comments about speed or road rules. he only said i should engage the clutch more slowly. overall he's not a policeman nor an instructor.
BUT i drove in a closed job site, driving concrete up and down only so no costumers. remember a costumer has always right ^^

overall wait half to 1 year more if nothing better search for a new job.

You are never too old to learn self control and humility. If you told me 1.5 years ago while working in the oilfield with $500k of test equipment that I would be washing motorcycles for $10 ph, I would have asked for some of what you were smoking lol. The service manager I worked for didn't think I was competent enough to run the forklift or drive the co pickup. He was surly and unpleasant all of the time. I sucked it up while actively looking for a new job, but when I was publicly chastised for leaving bug/water marks on a bike, I went to HR and was "laid off" two weeks later.
I walked out of there with pride because I didn't sink to his level and did my job with pride and integrity.

I had that problem about 2 years ago when I started a new job as a driver for a landscape company, I could do NO good. Whats probably happening is he's feeling you out, but you're not trying to do the same back, keep your attitude(if you're using any) in check, really in check, remember that he's your boss.

Do exactly what he says, eventually, you'll both come to an understanding(hopefully) and become friends of a sort.

Thats what I did. Come to find out he was mad at another guy who started around the same time as me, and I got alot of flak too, got rid of that guy and it was ok. So also take in to account, that it might not be you at all.

Just something to consider, good luck.

I think my problems might be solved our district manager caught the boss screwing off and laid into him pretty good and his job is up in the air right now. Proof that the young guy (greenhorn) isnt always wrong lol
