Auxiliary Power Unit.
RV's have a simplified APU which is a generator powered by a small gas or diesel engine. This is used when the RV is parked with the engine shut off. The APU provides electrical power for lights, computer/television use, etc.
The more complex ones used on big trucks are used when the truck engine is shut off. The APU can provide electrical power for television/computer, lights, cooking in the truck, refrigerator, heat & air conditioning and some keep the engine warm.
www.apucenter.com has some pictures of truck APU's. This website also shows truck engine idle laws in each state.Last edited: Mar 14, 2017

I got one week before I leave for Stevens. Crst contacted me and pressed me hard to commit. Anyone have any info on crst or work there recently?

There is a CRST forum. Lots of reviews. I'd stay with Stevens.
