I like to check the local ads to see what the current landscape is in the job market.

Today, I noticed USF Reddaway is advertising like crazy. Any USF drivers have insight on this?

When I worked there they were always looking for drivers especially p&d. I got sent to a few different terminals to do p&d for a week at a time because they couldn't keep drivers even with a signing bonus. I was extra board linehaul and got sick of running around to do p&d at other terminals for less money.
Lower than average ltl pay, yrc ball and chain and old equipment are dragging Reddaway down.

They're hiring here in Denver too. ads all over craigslist, Indeed, CareerBuilder and elsewhere.

how much do they pay? and what do you mean by YRC ball and chain? What does YRC have to do with Reddaway?

YRC owns Reddaway. Long story. Needless to say, YRC is not the best parent company.

I just have this crazy notion that it's probably slightly better than a scab mega outfit.

In Denver you can hire on a get a schedule off the bat on Linehaul. Probably make 70k-78k with the elogs coming in. I made 83k last year on my w2 plus I was losing runs in April and May cause freight was slow last year. Denver has a lot of miles 5440miles Salt Lake City bid, beaver Utah bid 5310miles every two weeks you run. Beaver ut bid runs triples in spring to summer. I'm at .52cpm but I think start is .48cpm. Sometimes they'll start you at top rate. Also extra pay for layover, fueling , wait time, hooking sets. I was making extra $200-$400.00 on top of mileage every pay period which is every two weeks your paid. Elogs will affect that hourly pay.

    So example 5440x .48cpm = 2611.00 plus 8hrs (varies more or less) work time at 18.xx = 144.00
    2611+ 144= Gross $2755.00 + 70.00 layover pay. 0 deduction for insurance is free.

Home every other day, Night shift only. Two days off partial weekend on a bid.

Denver management is pretty laid back. Good group of people Just the pay compared to other LTL's is what's making them struggle to keep the experience drivers to stay. This is thanks to YRC not going back to the table and renegotiating with Union. Reddaway even though most is non union has to stay in the guidelines of YRC union pay. So no pay raises til they YRC negotiate the contract in 2019. Until then Exp drivers will get tired and jump ship.

True, but not the best place if you want to get into LTL. However, the fact that they are having so many problems attracting new drivers makes the YRC companies a good stepping stone for drivers without a lot of experience. For instance, Holland used to be a cream-of-the-crop job and they wouldn't hardly consider anyone with fewer than 5 years experience. Now, they are hiring rookies. It is a WAY better job than a mega for rookies.

I just started a bit ago with yrc. Theyve been extremely nice to me (dockworkers, managers, other drivers, so on) my first paycheck was 1344 on the openboard for linehaul (for 5 days).

I should also note what the others say is true. The equipment is pretty worn out but will still pass a dot. Mine is a very basic volvo with 890k miles. Get a bluetooth speaker.. mine doesnt have a radio :p

If you have any other questions just pm me I dont mind. Best of luck driver! :)

All these drivers because it's a great job.
    They're leaving for a reason.
