I'd look up their safety ratings while waiting on replies from people here. I've not even heard of this outfit, so I can't offer any advice other than that.
-
Are you referring to WEST Texas Express?
If you have seen a website on them, please post it. I think I know the company you are referring to, but there are several variations of "Texas Express" companies, so specifics are important... -
I believe he's referring to Texas 'Star' Express, based out of Rockwall, TX.
I haven't heard much either way. They state on their website, they mainly run South-Southeast-Midwest. I know that my owner-operator friend once considered them his #2 company of choice, which means that they're probably a decent company since he conducts lengthy research and is so critical of every company he looks at.

STAY AWAY from Texas Express out of Rockwall. I was leased with them 2 years ago and last I heard they are in real hot water. 250-mile runs with 24 hours on them are the norm there. They also have a lot of layovers in South Texas and the border towns.

Good morning Duckie. I worked for Texas Star Express from '98 to '02. Of course there were a couple of times I left for a month or two. I ran Tx regional for most of my time there, alot of Lowes freight, which was no touch. I ran 2500 to 3000 a week, but there were times when I only got 1800-2000. I went longhaul my last hitch and averaged better than 3000 a week. I ran hard most of the time, lots of 650-700 mile overnighters after being up all day. They started the routing crap and wanted you to stick to it, which was tough to do when you had to be "creative" with your joke book and still be on time. I visited the log lady many times!! It's been a while since I left, but I understand it's still a good place to work. There was and still may be a true open door policy, all the way to the president. Basicly I left from burnout, plus a decent job in the oilfield, but I am looking to return to the "Big Road" soon. Hope this helps. Gimme a shout if you want more info.

Well...now that we have it clarified which company is in question, I can offer that Texas Star Express has some very decent safety stats. Their ISS-2 stands at 35.
They have 400 trucks, and at one time I had them on a short list of companies that I was considering for employment. They changed their running lanes, and so I didn't pursue them.
As to the "hot water" that they are supposedly in, that one poster offered, I don't understand what that could mean. They certainly are not in trouble with the Feds, or seem to be having any financial difficulties. -
Thanks or everyone reply and that is who I going to work for when I come back on the road sometime next year I hope, so long as my back surgery goes ok and the doc clears me.
-
Ok, hope you speak fluent spanish and enjoy mexican food. You'll be spending a LOT of time in the border towns. As one poster said, you will be waiting ALL day to load and then be coerced into running overnight. In other words,LOTS of waiting with NO pay. Turbo, they have been in hot water for almost a year now. They stopped hauling a lot of home depot loads. A friend of mine had personal contact with the former vice president so I KNOW they are having problems right now. I don't see what's so nice about running regional when you have to constantly do it overnight and spend very little time at home. Well, don't say I didn't warn you.

Doe's anybody know anything about them besides the little they have on their website. They are base out of Rockwall Texas and they seem to offer some nice things for their drivers. I'm turning 23 next month and want to move to that part of the country anyway have family in Fort Worth.
