After viewing over multiple trucker forums.. I have come to the conclusion that no company is worth my valuable time. It seems that someone either A.) Hears bad news about a company, believes it and posts it here B.) Got fired by a company for not following their policies, so they hop on the web and badmouth them to keep other drivers from a good company OR C.) The company is a craphole all around and shouldn't have the drivers it has.
Now here's a VITAL question for someone who has a brain and knows how to use it.. Where the hell can i find a company that runs regional out of the St.Louis, MO area? I don't care to be treated like a number, as long as my pay is correct and I get weekends off. The pay has to be there, too.. I've put my time in long enough to not earn .33 CPM.. 40 would be nice but i'll go as low as 36It's not that much to ask for, but all these companies act like its such a BIG deal to let you go home after you've given them countless hours in their truck wasting your life to deliever their product. Isn't there at least one company worth working for? As far as my experience i have 1 year and 8 months experience.. 1 year and 3 months of that was reefer.. I would prefer to stay away from Hazmat, flatbed and tanker companies.. Not because of the work, but because no company is willing to pay high enough for the actual work they insist upon.. (25.00 tarp pay?? That's not even worth fighting with a tarp in gusty winds during a rainstorm..) And please don't flame me.. Just respect another trucker trying to support his family and still get some hometime to give his newly wed some lovin

I cant tell you of any companies but I think if you are going to restrict yourself to van only then you might be shortchanging yourself. Lots of flatbedders dont have to tarp, Hazmat dont really require anymore work than anything else, and tanker drivers get paid fairly well and most of their work is not that difficult.

Heartland Express has a terminal in O Fallen, MO . They run regional and will get you home on weekends. With one year expierence, u start at .41 , with 1/2 cent increase per year. They're not for everyone, but might fit you.

2 years experience, and wants TOP PAY. Cracks me up !!!!!!!!!!! I believe that anything less than 4-6 years at least, is just above a newbie.

actually he has a whopping 1 year and 8 months! now that thar is a genuine, steel belted, gear jammin' rig jockey!! actually that "time you've put in" will be looked at as 1 year of experience, which will put you about one CPM above the base pay. second, if your time were that valuable, you wouldn't spend it with a trucking company. third, anyone who does have a brain is not going to have anything to do with the trucking industry. $25 tarp pay is pretty standard - although some companies pay $0. I can fully tarp a load in 30 minutes. that = $50 an hour, which evidently is not worth your valuable time. if you feel you're "wasting your life" in a truck, delivering a company's product, by all means, do something more valuable with your life - become a brain surgeon, a rocket scientist, an inventor, an engineer, start a software company, etc.
seriously, you need some perspective here. first, you really have no experience, you're a wet behind the ears babe in the woods. nobody cares what you want to do or not do. there is NO shortage of drivers right now. freight rates have dropped and so has the mileage pay for drivers. a lot of flatbed companies are now offering low 30s for EXPERIENCED drivers. you want 40CPM for van and be home every weekend? sure thing, your highness. honestly, Mr "experienced, valuable truck driver," the best thing you could do is just stay home and give your new spouse your "lovin." LMFAO........oh lordy..... -
I was thinking of a flabed company or two, till I saw he did not have 2 years yet and did not want to work.
You will not find any dry van company that will give you what you want. Dry pays less than the others because they charge lower freight rates than the others.
Most companys will not pay drivers much more than 20% of what the truck makes gross.
So at .40 cpm that would mean 2.00 a mile freight. That is TOP billing on dry van in most parts of the country and almost impossable to find on non-hazmat loads at the moment.
Fladbed companys in the midwest are finding it almost impossable to find 2.00 a mile loads right now, unless on an older contract.
Sorry boss. You will not find it. And if you do the miles will be so low you will not make any more money than you are at .32 cpm. -
Either expand your options or be prepared to get laughed by most companies. However your best bet would be to get your hazmat and run for a regional company like heartland.
