The community college I was attending (non-trucking) did the same thing. I had to have funds up front somehow, and they considered GI bill to be reimbursement. I had Chap 1606, tho.
-
Not sure what Chapter 1606 is,, but I'm using Chapter 33 funds, which will expire May 2nd. I've already missed using the actual G.I. Bill by about 5 years lol. Thank God I paid that $600 back then switch over to the Post 9/11 G.I. Bill.

This is worrisome to me, because I have a really low credit score.
-
I was never active duty, so I had the Montgomery bill. $325ish a month.
rward75 Thanks this. -
Sounds like this Trucking School wants to be paid for their services.... just saying...
-
No ####! You don't say?!??

Some schools requires outside financing, some are in-house. It's just whatever level of risk they want to take vs. getting more people in.
I'd say it's not unexpected they don't want the headache of being both a financial company and a driver training company.
As for your credit score do you have any collateral you can use to secure the loan? Heck the GI bill may be enough to secure the loan with. You won't know untill you talk to the bank.rward75 Thanks this. -
They suggested financing so I could get into training sooner, but they can wait until I get my guarantee letter thing (forget what it's called) from the VA to give to them to pay for training.
So I guess that answers my question lol. Sorry all, I am in most things ~ a total noob.

This is something that I have seen before.. make sure you have all your paperwork exactly right because if it's not you will not be reimbursed.
Not sure why you waited so long, but you need to be self reliant in this moment and make sure you have the funds to back this loan. Or you could get stuck with this loan and no way to pay it back.
The people that used their GI benefits at the school I attended needed to go through a lot of training. They had to do CDLA, CDLB-Passenger/Bus license, forklift certification, dump truck certification, and other things like that to just have enough of a course for the GI benefits to approve the payments.
