    I have a 1999 International 4700 that originally had a DT466E

The original owner had engine replaced, but can not tell me anything about the engine he put in.
I found what I think is the serial number on the left side, - 1830279C1

It was a great running engine until I was getting water in the oil. I removed the oil pan and pressurized the coolant. water seemed to be dripping everywhere.

I was told that an In Frame Rebuild shouldn't be too difficult, so me and my son are going to try and tackle it. I'm just not sure which Kit to buy. The local International dealer could only go by the VIN number and said we could pray it will fit the engine. $1,600 is a lot of praying.

Is there anything else I can be looking at that would help identify model, HP, things like that?

    Thanks!
    Greg

I just copied and pasted that serial number into google and a bunch of ebay listings came up for DT466E motors...So I'm guessing that's whats in the truck..the only other motor I could guess it could be is the bigger DT530E..

That is just a part number. The serial number is etched on the right side of the block above the oil cooler on the machined flat surface.

Heavyd would know better than me but the DT was made in many different models. 360, 408, 414, 466, and 530 off the top of my head. If it is still electronic I thank that would be a 466E or a 530E.
Don't know that IHC offered any different liner options in the same block but with stuff like that I take them apart first. Get all the numbers possible: Liner, piston, rod and main bearings etc.
Normally order all my parts local: OEM or after market for these reasons. OEM parts some times have warranty including labor. If you by them locally you would think-hope service is a little better. After Market: Bought a good bit of them years ago. Received some liners with the fire ring flatted on a couple from shipping. The company made it good but I had to also pay for the replacements and ship the others back to receive a refund.
Two examples why: Saw a 3304 with 3 STD rod bearings and one .050. My neighbor was retired ran a John Deere, part time, that came without a turbo. The engine was replaced with a used turbo engine. Came up for sale, he bought and ran it for years. I rebuilt it for him, it was worn out. It had high compression (non-turbo) pistons with a turbo. He ran the tractor for 15 years like that so I put if back just like it was. It came up for sale, I bought it.
By the way where is everywhere? The liners? Saw a 414 that with a bad block, probably froze. Had a slow interminent coolant leak. It was coming down from up in the camshaft area. Block fixed it but an in frame did not.
