How come no matter what company someone asks about there seems to be 600 million reasons to stay away from a certain company and 600 million reasons to go with a company? i mean what are all these newbies supposed to believe anyway!!!
it's just an opinion

I hear mostly bad about all companies mostly the bigger ones like Swift and JB Hunt but I hear it about most all of em on the net and in truck stops. Its Human nature for people to complain more often than give praise. I assume their feelings about a company may change from day to day depending on if its a good day or bad day at least for me it does. Also complaining seems to give truckers something to talk about because chances are everyone has had bad experiences at one point or another.

All companies have good and bad. What exactly are you looking for in trucking? Local driving, regional, national 48 states? Write down exactly what you want and need in trucking, and what will work for you, like how often do you need hometime, pets etc... Then list all carriers that fall into your category, and start narrowing them down by talking to the actual drivers, go to your nearest truck stop and ask lots of questions, they will be more accurate then what you read here. Swift is a large company so you will see alot of negative things about them. I personaly think Swift is to large, and cant keep all there drivers satisfied. But maybe they have a dedicated account in your area that will work out perfect for you. GOOD LUCK and DRIVE SAFELurchgs Thanks this.

Exactly
Make a list of what you NEED
Make a list of what you WANT - and prioritize it. Is taking a pet more important than running a 1500 watt inverter?
Make a list of companies that provide what you NEED
Narrow that list by filtering with what you WANT
you should end up with fewer than 10 companies on a list of "these should work"
Myself, I ended up with 5. Got invites to Orientation from 4 of them. Hired on with one of them.
Even though I no longer work for them, I have nothing bad to say about them.
And I've started the application process all over again - list is a trifle longer, this time, because more companies will take a driver with 4 months experience than will take a driver with no experience
