This is about the funniest thing I've read in here yet.
To stop & resume 60 MPH it takes you 5 miles.
Yet it takes you an additional 15 miles if you want to get up to gain 10 more MPH even though you're all ready rolling?
Why is it that it takes 5 more miles to gain an additional 5 MPH (65) but it takes an additional 10 more miles to go up another 5 MPH (70)?

My truck is governed at 69MPH and I can hit that governor on a flat road with 45K lbs in the box in about 2.5 miles. Definitely flawed math there.

Not so. If you put a 2 hour break in the middle, it can defer the 14 if you take 8 in the sleeper later
However, it's moot. You have 13 hours - 9 hours after you've taken care of line 4. That's 4 hours you can sit in the dock on line 1 or 2 and still have time to drive home -
Yes , but like I said , dispatch likes to leave a cushion for unexpected delays . For example : on a run to Canada last week Ohio DOT pulled me in for a level 1 inspection that took just under an hour . Then my broker punched in a wrong code when processing my PARS and I was delayed over an hour at the border .
We are kept busy . If we get in by 7 p.m. we have a load ready to go out by 6 a.m. . If our first run is delayed 2 hours and we don't get in until 9 p.m. the next load starts late . -
I stand by my original statement a 2 hour sleeper break does not stop the 14 hour clock . If you start at 6 a.m. and take a 2 hour sleeper break during the day you must still take another break by 8 p.m.

It is my understanding that the only way to stop the 14 hour clock is to take an 8 hour break, with a 2 hour break later.
Otherwise, you must take a 10 hour break. -
Just finally decided to peek in on this thread. Looks like that idiot used a shoe horn to park that sucker that close! You handled that beautifully, and much more diplomatically than I would have!

You can take a 2 hour break anytime it will not stop or extend the 14 hour clock.
You will still need to stop and take your 8 hour sleeper period when the 14 hour clock is done.
All you do if you take the 8 hour break first is extent the 14 hour clock but once you hit the end of 14 hour clock you will need to do a 10 hour if I rember right.
I think I got it right were the heck is logsrus when you need her. -
You can take an 8 hour break before the 14 hour ends as well. Drivers Daily Log will show you if you want to use it and see how it works.
Many of the times I would use the 8 hour break and then drive into the dock and finish with 2 more. My company did not recognize them period. The logs had to show 10 hour or they wrote you up. -
It can be 2/8 or 8/2. (with the 2 being a minimum)
Roadmedic - ouch,that's a bite in the butt. If it's legal by the book, the company should fly with it. It's not that hard for compliance to track.
