hello. i currently do not have a cdl and i am trying to start at a company sponsored school or an independent school. the thing i am worried about is that. i have a citation this past year. i was cited for speeding over 15 and reckless driving. the reckless driving charge was dropped. as a result. my drivers license was suspended for 30 days. i have my license back and that is the only thing on my driving record. can anyone tell me whether or not i will be able to find a trucking job or some company or school to train me based on the record. if so can you tell me which companies may consider me?

You would probably be best to inquire with the company, but a 15 over is not a good thing. It might be ok, but I would check before spending time or money
-
It's highly unlikely any reputable company will consider you. 15 over is considered a serious infraction as far as a CDL driving job is concerned and a suspension will probably bar you from the industry for at least 5 years.
My advice... when your record is spotless for 5 years, then go for it.
Edit: As far as the reckless charge, if you weren't convicted, then it doesn't exist. Check your MVR to be certain though. -
well swift has accepted me into the training program. right now i am studying to get my cdl permit before i attend class. i would like to thank you all for the advice and wish me luck in my journey to become a truck driver
-
Definitely wish you luck.
The citation and conviction were *probably*not an issue. It's the only one on your MVR, and you got it before you got your CDL. I have a "Following too Close" on my MVR from a year ago - also pre-CDL. Nobody even gave it a second glance -
ok so what company are you working for lurchgs?
-
at the moment, nobody. Had been with May Trucking, but a week from hell put an end to that (not their fault)
-
so how easy is the cdl permit test? i am going to try for it tomorrow. the only thing i am concerned about is the air brakes test. can you give me some tips?
-
The tests for the permit arent to hard but I would go and get the cdl book from your dmv or testing site and study it. As far as the air brake test goes make sure you know all the different psi numbers in the book, such as when the air compressor kicks in and turns off. When the brakes will pop on with low air pressure, how to do an air brake test. Just study the book front to back and if you search around on the forum here there are links for study tests you can do online.

i got a speeding ticket 25mph over and a accident on my record and i was told it was nothing
