    Hey all,

My husband is new in the trucking biz! We are thankful he has a job in this economy, but I also have questions that he is afraid to ask. I am a little more assertive! :biggrin_25525:

I am beginning to pay more attention to his check stubs, since they are coming back as much less then what I figure from week to week. So today I noticed that there are no miles next to "empty move" lines. Perhaps I am reading the stub wrong, they aren't the easiest to follow...

My question is is he getting paid miles for "empty moves"?

He has been gone 5 weeks, and the pay doesn't seem to be worth the trouble right now. Haven't seen him in a while, and I may just be overly emotional and upset right now.

    Thanks!

ask him if he any ''dead head miles'' also known as empy miles for any of his loads.

If he has not had any Dead head miles to get his next load then they are probaly paying him correct.

You would think there would be some empy miles though.

Have you hubby keep track of all miles empty and loaded most of the time they will be on the dispatch.

At the company I was working for they would put loaded and empy on their dispatch and then once you got unloaded and the dispatcher could close out that load on the truck they would send a load pay statement to the truck which had every thing on it.

If he is running empty miles/deadhead/empty move he should be getting paid on those. My hubby's empty miles show up on his stubs as empty miles. His company doesn't use the term 'empty move' unless he has a 'vanishing load' which is where he gets dispatched on a load, gets there to pick it up, and the load is gone (that's only happened a couple of times) or when he's coming home after delivering a load. His miles home after a drop are not paid.

Thanks all, I'll ask him. Unfortunately he doesn't pay attention to these details like I do.

Make sure your husband is writing down his empty miles on his trip envelope if they use them
