Yeah, they do have a 3yr/300k warranty, which isn't much left, but Harrison said they would offer extended warranties since they built the gliders. Of course....everything has a cost. Issue for me, is im going in all cash. If I buy new, I'm limited to 1 setup. If I can drop the price a little bit, I can afford 2 to start.
How much negotiation on used truck at dealer?

Well, shoot them an offer. Worst they can do is say no? I have to do this everyday finding freight on the open market. Every once in a while I even get lucky. I'm sure they got the price jacked up. Gliders are going to get harder and harder to find with the new law in January. They know that so they are going to price them acordingly. New ones will start increasing in price next year too I'm sure. Fitzgerald stoped printing there pricing a couple of months ago.... mmmmm I wonder why?

At $95k they are saying that the depreciation of the truck was like $12k a year. That is a little short to me. I wish I could USE a brand new truck under warranty for $12k a year.

Not having much faith in A fitzgerald glider these days... unless it has the Detroit factory Reman Motor. Does show how low they can go though...

Yep. Guy here in the fuel island earlier with a 2 year old FITZ said no problems so far. Seemed happy with the purchase. I'm with you though with the factory reman Detroit. Harrison has a better reputation. FITZ has sold a lot of trucks though. Must be some happy coustemers in there somewhere or they would be out of buissness already. Good luck let us know how it works out for you.
Just ordered a new crate motor for my old truck today. Been kicking tires for a couple years now. Just can't pull the trigger on a new truck myself. -
I still struggle with new vs used glider. New should run about .05/mile in maint, under warranty for 3yr/300k. Assume I buy used glider out of warranty at 300k, then the first 3 years I can estimate a .07/mile increase (.12/mi average) in maint costs, which equals about $15,000 over 3 years. Of course price difference (before negotiations) is only $30,000, and this doesn't take into account depreciation and residual value after 3 years.
Buying new reduces capital to pick up some used flat bed trailers, but I could always rent for a few months, then purchase after some initial revenue comes in....
Then you get into the MPG difference between a Coronado and a Cascadia. Even a 1.25 MPG improvement is worth about $7,615 a year @ $2.65/gal
So many little things to consider.Socal Xpress Thanks this. -
Fitz can't build them fast enough. A buddy of mine has had one new since early 2015 and really had very few minor issues on a Fitz built motor. So apparently they got one of them right anyway.
I rode by their Byrdstown, TN production facility yesterday. They're building a much bigger newer shop on the west side of the highway. On the east side they already have several nice buildings and I suppose what are corporate offices.
There are literally hundreds of gliders parked around both lots of many acres either ready to get built or about to be sent to customers. Way more than what they have near Cookeville, TN.
They've already cashed in on the trend and it looks like they're going to finish out strong until the regulations shut gliders down.
To me even $80,000 seems like a lot. I like pre-emissions but it seems like anecdotally 2014 and newer are having less and less issues. You can get a lot of emissions compliant bang for your buck for way cheaper than 80 grand these days. -
I like that...
I say keep pushing...LOL...and when you fall over the cliff, reach back, climb up, and push again...love itNostalgic Thanks this. -
It's a 10 year old Pete with 1.1 million on it. For real numbers instead of percentages, it started at $24k, I offered $16k, he came back at $19.5, I said I'd check into inspection. Put inspection on hold and he called offering $19. That's when I asked for history. He gave me last owner service records, but for all I know at this point, it's an acert with 1.1 mil on it and everything is ready to grenade. He finally offered to pay half the inspection if I bought, so $18,825. I'd have to buy a plane ticket, and drive it half way across the country home. Really not sure if I want it. Half tempted to roll the dice on a non-running 379x, but it comes with a $1700 tow bill haha.
