Been concidering this myself but wanted to get more educated on it before hand. I hope to see some responses to this pole. If anyone with knowledge by first hand account would respond it would be much appreciated. Thanx in advance.

I have had D-TV for about 8 years. I don't have it on my "truck" at the moment because I am working more-or-less local to the Gulf Coast right now, but I do have it set up on my camper. I had a friend that had D-TV for a few years and switched to DISH because it was cheaper. HOWEVER, the sats used are at a much lower elevation than the ones that D-TV has and he found a problem getting his dish aligned over other trucks at truckstops, especially at the higher latitudes. Meaning; his signal was blocked when parking in proximity to other trucks in Northern States (especially the upper East Coast) or Canada. He switched BACK to D-TV after 1 year.

I have DirecTV at home, and would like to install on my truck. The problem for me is, I like HD. The new 5 LNB dish is way too big to install on a truck, IMO. I'd like to put a nice little 23" flat screen LCD on the wall in the sleeper...

Do any of you all have trouble with your Direct -TV during a storm? I have it at home and sometimes it seems it is not even raining and mine will go out.

I would call them and have them come out and re-direct your dish.
I have Dish network and can count on one hand how many times I have lost it which ain't much in the years that I have had it.
Usually in a bad storm I turn it off anyway. But, don't have much trouble with that. -
I carry a small dvd player and a few favorite movies. I don't have the time to stop and watch a lot of tv in the truck. I park, do my paperwork, grab some sleep and food and get back rolling as soon as I can. All my 34 hour resets occur in my own home, and I treat time on the road as work time. I keep busy making money, not laying over and watching the tube. And I don't have to carry around the dish and other equipment with me. I like to keep things simple....l

The last year I was otr I had direct tv. I only watched it on the weekends. It took me a little while to learn how to aim it but once I got the hang of it, it took no time to set up.

What is D-TV?, and how do I find out about it?
Thanks -
Swing media has software and a box to connect to your 2nd tv at home,it sends all your tv stations to the laptop ,as long as your on the internet you have all your staions from home. the only catch is noone at home should be watching that tv or you will have to watch what they are. It costs 249.. no more extra charges because you pay sat. or cable bill at home. I have seen the demo at a ta two weeks ago by the cell phone folks at Ta,there. If you get to a ta ask them, its on mthe internet under swing media. My neighbor builds computers and fixes them, programs for businesss here and does media work. Hes checking it out for me.
