That's ridiculous. When one of your cheap carriers causes a big claim then closes up the doors leaving you holding the bag it's going to take a lot of $75 loads to cover their screwup. Have fun with it. That's what cheap gets you every time. A mess.

If I was a broker I'd be trying to make as much as possible on every load. It's business and I'm in it to make money. That's how you do it. 5% on a load is good for Schneider doing $100,000,000 gross revenue in brokerage a year. For one guy doing a few million it's a LOT of work for peanuts. I think brokers who claim to "only take a small percent" on every load are liars. And ones who make claims of it on here are trolling for gullible carriers.

I think TURTLE1969 has the right mindset as he doesn't want to gouge, and wants to represent his firm as 1 of the few "fair" Brokerages.......

Won't be long though before the OP REALIZES, "Hey, WTF am I only keeping $75 on a $1400 move?".......lol,He'll be keeping more in due time, THEY ALWAYS END UP DOING IT!!!

Even if they work on volume......Greed takes over because a New Roof has to go on Momma's house and Davey Needs help paying for School,

There's no such thing as gouging. It's not gouging when I charge $6 a mile on 500 miles and they willingly pay it to secure the truck just the same as its not gouging when a truck does the same 600 mile run for 50 cents a mile. That's the market. If it paid to move it was a good rate period.

Do you guys run your trucks the same way you expect brokers to profit from basically nothing. "Well Mr Broker I want to be fair about this. It only costs $1.25 a mile for my truck to move. So 5% profit above that will be plenty for me". I figure if you're preaching it as a good enough margin for them it ought to be good enough for you too. You would never accept a load from anyone paying $5 a mile on 400 miles and instead would tell them to give you your normal rate plus 5% in fairness right?

Trolling for carriers? I guess you forgot the part where I said I also have my own trucks. I myself am getting out of driving but yes your attitude can determine your rate also or determine which digit on the hand you get too

Yes I hear that pitch from brokers a lot. Spare me. I'm not sympathetic and don't care. You're a broker with freight, period. If you have trucks you're also my competitor. I'm in this for me same as you.

If you've read that guy's past posts, you'll see that he willingly and proudly admits to back-soliciting the customers when he hauls brokered freight. He has very skewed views when it comes to "fairness" and ethics. He also believes more government regulation is the answer to all of his problems (so long as it's for others, and they're regulated to his advantage). I have a hard time taking anything he says seriously.

The only way to be successful in business is to charge as much as the market will bear. I work for a small transportation company. We have an in-house brokerage and we run trucks. When I'm booking a load for my trucks, it's always in my best interest to get the most money I can. When I'm trying to cover one of my loads with someone else's truck, it's in my best interest to get the truck for as cheap as possible. Whether or not the price is "fair" (to both sides) doesn't enter into the equation.
