North Georgia mountain country. US 19 south out of Blairsville to Dahlonega. Never, ever again! 40 miles of steep switchbacks, narrow two lane.
Didn't take me long to figure why there were no other trucks. A crotch rocket did pass me multiple times up and down the mountain. Apparently getting reps on his high speed cornering skills.
This was before my gps, relying on the atlas and my superb decision making skills to find this real cherry of a route!
Most harrowing stretch of highway

Lovers Leap Va. US 58. Enough said.
Al. Roper Thanks this. -
I pulled a loaded tanker up US191 from US6 near Price, Ut to US40 at Duchesne, Ut one snowy winter evening. 9+ degree pulls and hairpin turns. I did save a few miles though.

S Aberdeen St. in Englewood, IL is a pretty scary ride, even when there's no snow.

Sounds like US50 coming the other way from Winchester to Parkersburg lol
Another one of those never again roads. Company routing. Even the gps was screaming don't go there. As a green driver I thought surely the company routing couldn't be wrong could it? lol
7 years later I look back at what a bad deal that was and glad at the time I was too new to know it.Finfn1372 Thanks this. -
Worst road I've been on, that was a designated truck route anyway, was US60 in WV between Charleston and Hico/US19. Hilly, tight, and lots of logging/coal trucks in a hurry. Fun fun fun. Though I78 around Hamburg PA and in NJ was a lot of fun before they fixed it in, what, 2008?
