Perhaps you have discounted, in your infinite wisdom, that I was part of a firefighting team and so commercial regs did not really apply to me---not that it's any of your business. You dipsticks are pretty much ruining a fun topic so why not buck off and go back to your mother's basement?

Holy crap. Ebbetts Pass Hwy 4 CA. That driver hadn't even gotten to the real business yet. In a car you can see your own tags going around some of those turns.
b100 (1).jpg And... the Real Business. Bikers love Ebbetts.

Sorry to bombard you with CA photos. I grew up there. The Sierra was my playground. I was just curious what photos I could find of truckers being where they ought not to be on roads I've driven in my pickup many times.

    Lepton1 Thanks this.

Sliding the tandems up would help.

I drive 285 alot. Its got some rough spots and a bunch of truck traffic but not too bad. Gotta pay attention.
Theres worse roads down around Cotulla and Three Rivers Tx. Highway 72 is known as the Death Road. Drove it a bunch couple summers ago. Dont miss it.

I was the first week out on my own in Montrose CO. I had picked up my load and was heading to Gallup NM. My Omnitrac GPS in the truck was acting up so I didn't know which way the company wanted me to go. I relied on my Rand McNally truckers GPS. It's telling me to take US 550 south. I get to a point where about every mile there are signs warning that trucks aren't recommended. I'm too dumb to know how bad it was. Over not one but two 11000 plus mountains, through switchbacks with 10 mph speeds posted. I was getting a stiff neck from watching where my tandems are in relation to the non existent shoulder. I don't think I've ever been so scared. This was in October and dry pavement. Can't imagine it in rain or snow. It's probably nothing compared to some of these routes you folks have mentioned, but it was plenty for me.

Kandahar Pass, Khyber Pass, Brenner Pass, Biesla Pass. Oh, you mean in this country? We should be counting our blessings. We have it made compared to some of our foreign brothers.
