As I understand it, and with the caveat that my understanding may be flawed in one or more respects, they only look if you give them a reason to look. Stuff such as hard braking or covering up the camera while the vehicle is in motion.

If you don't give them a reason to look, they don't look. I mean, most days I am grilling hotdogs on the Hibachi in my passenger seat and Performing the Macarena while I drive, and so far no one has said a word.

The company that monitors the cameras must have 10s of thousands of them out there in daily use. It's not just in trucks as some bus companies and other fleet vehicles use them too.

It would take an army of people to watch them all the time, a very expensive army that no truck or bus company would want to pay for. There is no way all the cameras are being watched all the time. That is a simple impossibility.

From what I understand, if the camera event recorder is triggered, the monitoring company views the footage then makes a determination whether the event warrants driver feedback or counselling. This is then passed on to the customer company who can then take further action or not.

My camera has been triggered at least 30 times if not more in the past year. One day I had 3 red light events in the space of about 8 hours. Of all those only once have I been summoned to safety and it was an incident where I was clearly in the wrong.

All the others I can only assume that either the monitoring company or Abilene viewed the footage and didn't see anything wrong or that warranted further action.

I used to be more conscious of it, making sure it was covered when getting changed etc, but now I don't even think about it. If some stranger somewhere wants to know what color underwear I have on, I couldn't care less.

    I haven't found a way yet.

This isn't a good time of year for the idle restriction. Just cool enough outside for temp sensor to read below 65, but warm enough for the temp in the sleeper to skyrocket especially during the day with the sun beating down on it.

Just have to cope with lack of sleep until weather warms up more. :biggrin_2556:
