Yes ma'am. My better half and I were just down in Ellenton for a hockey tournament, afterwards we headed over to Cocina Beach to meet some friends. Nothing like parking in a pine woods lot and walking to the beach.

Nope, never made it there. If you like good food, there's a greek restaurant on Manatee Ave. called the Olympic Cafe - I hope it's still there - that has some of the best gyros around. The rest of their menu is pretty darn good too.

    I like this idea!!!:yes2557:
Next time i'm up for a vacation I can just drive to the nearest flying J and enjoy the climate.
Wonder if we could get them to make the car parking lot smaller, and install an outdoor pool as well??:biggrin_25512:

    Sure!
    No problem.
Just write your lawmakers a letter and suggest that they
propose legislation to mandate it by law.
Shouldn't be any more than a
    "minor inconvenience". :biggrin_25525:

I lived in Bradenton for about a year. Used to go drinking at the Lost kangaroo every Friday night. Work at Supersound electronics in Palmetto for a short bit then started working at a stereo shop in St. Pete.

I partied by butt off for a year, drank like a fish, then went back home to Seattle. :biggrin_25525:

I had some musician friends that played a lot down in Sarasota clubs, so spent most of my partying time down there. Didn't party much though. The older ya get the longer the hangovers last. I don't remember the last time I've had so much as a glass of wine!

Saw Rick Derringer play a 4th of July thing in Palmetto back in '04 right down along the Manatee River.

A very simple device that is used to clean snow off the roofs of trailers. There are three rubber pieces, two that form a wedge of sorts and a third one behind them to get what's missed, or maybe the third one is a little lower, not sure. In the google image what you see is from a shadow on the ground. The shadow actually gives you a pretty good idea of what it looks like. Very simple design, the rubber has enough give that it won't damage the trailer roof but is firm enough to get the snow off. It couldn't cost much to install these at truck stops, just a couple of poles, a cross member and a few pieces of rubber. Use at your own risk.
