Hi ya'll. Can anyone give me the pricing on Crete's Health Insurance - driver, spouse, and family. Is the insurance any good? Does it include dental? If not how much is dental. can't seem to get any specifics out of the recruiter.
Any Northeast Regional Drivers out there? If so, what lanes do you primarily run, how much NYC, what are your average miles per week, and how's the hometime.
Crete's website is pretty vague about the Northeast - N/A for Avg Weekly Mileage, N/A for Top 25% Avg Weekly Mileage, N/A Avg Annual Pay, N/A Top 25% Annual Pay.
Somewhat help me fill in the blanks

My miles started hitting rock bottom back in late August. My best week since late August was 2750 a couple weeks ago. Only 9,000 miles for the month of September (25 days out/360 mile per day). I am receiving a lot of "No freight availble. Check back in three hours" messages. I'm glad to see that some are getting plenty of miles. Keep trucking, hopefully this slow down will take a turn for the better.

I'm really starting to think its a combo-situation... 1. Freight is really slowing down (depending on your location). 2. How much do you make per mile (compared to the Crete truck next to you).? Drive Safe and keep your speed above the stock market! -
I dont have the exact figures in front of me, but my family coverage is about 68 bucks for med/dental/vision. Again its not exact but its in that ball park. I would think the recruiter would have this info available for you. I'm not sure about NE regional, I live on west coast. Good Luck

You're not alone. I'm not going to get into long narratives, but my last few trips out have been unacceptable:
8/5-8-25 ....... 7711 miles
9/2-9/19 ....... 7180 miles
9/23-10/12 .... 7678 miles
That's approximately 383 miles per day driving not including scheduled home time and the time I elected to stay home around Labor Day when the the company was over 200 loads short. I'm on the lower end of the pay scale at 41 cents per mile, too. I'm not doing the 8.5 hours per day thing, either. I've pretty much adopted Everrtrucker's load selection and trip planning style and it isn't helping much. I'll burn it up when the opportunity arises, but it just doesn't seem to arise much lately. Too many single offers of short runs with scheduled live loads and unloads on both ends ... if I don't out-and-out get the "No freight" message ... Seems like I always manage to sit an entire day when I end up in the Northeast or New England, too. Guess where I'm headed after my 06:00 live load after today's 14:00 empty call? Philadelphia? Nawww ...

Ouchy, your making way to much per mile!! LOL, just kidding. The northeast is probably the last place to get stuck.

hello all, been reading them amazing posts by the evertrucker and simply said it's alot to digest and I can't wait to get back out there. Now with that being said ...does crete have an apprenticeship program for retired military? I have checked into roehl and schnieder and both have sounded favorable however I'm from OK and out of the freight lanes for those companies.
Roehl said I can drive for them if I drive my pick up down to the dallas area to get in a truck. which that in itself is no issue however I would be sharing the truck with another driver (14/7 program). I would like to have my own truck. Any info would be great....thanks andy -
No military programs are available at Crete as far as I know (you may want to call them to get a real answer). You have to get a CDL on your own. Plus the CDL must be obtained through a PTDI certified school (there are some exceptions but you would have to talk to a recruiter about that). Once a student is accepted there is an eight week training program at Crete to prepare them for solo driving. Limited experience driver can also be accepted, but their driving record and job stability is closely scrutinized.Last edited: Oct 21, 2008

Detroit series 60 (455HP, I have my suspicions that they have been turned down a bit), 12.7L cruise power, 10 speed overdrive Meritor transmission, 70" raised roof sleepercab, 230" wheelbase with 22.5 LP tires.
I'm not sure what the differential ratio is.
I have no idea if the slower truck is making any difference in my mileage because they traded in my 2004 old truck which was governed at 65 and put me into a 2007 governed at 62.
My old truck averaged 6.4mpg during 2007 and 6.23mpg for the 1st 8 months of 2008 at 65mph. The truck I'm in now has averaged 6.76mpg since august, but I really don't know how much of that increase is due to the speed reduction and how much can be attributed to the fact that the old truck had 650,000 miles on it. The average was steadily declining as it aged.
As for the RPMs
at 55mph it turns 1225rpm +/-
at 62mph it turns a hair over 1400rpmLast edited: Oct 21, 2008

I hope you are right, but it will be a while before I know for sure. I'm headed to the house this week, so my miles will probably suffer somewhat as can happen when you are waiting for a load going in the right direction, especially when freight is this tight. If it gets to be too much of a headache I'll just rent a car to get me back to the house. Going to Wilmington this time around.
