Rates in car hauler?

I dont do that route ,i used to when it was good,i was responding to a dry box guy who thought he would make 12 k doing it .i dont haul cheap freight.ill dead head before i do

My parents do ok backhauling cars, it just depends on the area and the vehicle type. They make more hauling disabled vehicles in the south heading north, most of the stuff out west doesn't pay well unless its big, some cars are 20 cpm, but buses, cargo vans, box trucks etc can get over $1 per mile a piece. It's not consistent, and they are trying to stay away from the left coast. They have a trailer that allows them to haul the bigger stuff, though, not a car hauler setup.
