What year is your truck to have a metal roof?

 

Did you check the swr with the radio's meter? Its not 100% accurate but it will give you a good idea if it is high or not. I had a Wilson 1000 magnet mount on my F 150 for well over 10 years in Florida and because of the humidity I would have to occasionally remove antenna and wipe down roof surface so you may want to try that. There is a recent thread on here about the antenna warning light on Cobra 29 radios not being calibrated and accurate.

You say the needle does not move at all from far left position, did you calibrate first before switching to swr mode?
