I imagine Volvo suggested that because you weren't writing the check. If Volvo found and fixed anything petro contested it would be a back and forth for payment. That's probably why Volvo offered to inspect afterward, so any possible disagreement on damage and repair method status between you and petro. Smart move for the dealership although not really what I would call good customer service.
BUT, I have to say I would have taken the advice here and insisted it be towed and called a lawyer right off the bat. Petro is going to admit to as little as possible while doing as little as possible to rectify the situation. Its just business. They will have to be ordered to do anything more than that.
Petro shop just broke my oil pan. Compensation?

Petro says A,B and C were damaged and have the ability to fix it. Volvo says A,B,C,D and E were damaged and fixed the damage, charging petro. Petro says no way, they inspected it D and E were not damaged at that time plus fixing, A,B and C is about half of what Volvo is charging.
I'm just speculating here, but I can imagine there being some sort of thought process along those lines. In the end, probably costing both companies more than its worth for either. Definitely for petro. I'm guessing there are a pile of reasons petro would want to keep this all within the walls of their shop. Especially now that there are additional problems. I really would stop all negotiation and just talk to a good lawyer now. It couldn't hurt. You have negligence and lost income.visoiuvlad and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
Give me a break, Volvo didn't deal with it because the idiot on the other half of the phone was clueless.
They would have been paid no matter what, petrol should have paid for the repairs done anywhere YOU wanted to have it done and the downtime plus other expenses, they do this all the time.
BUT if you let Petro fix it, and that's it, then you can't claim damages because they fixed it. Petro offering you a PM is an insult, they should offer a lot more.
The one reason why you have the company like volvo work on it, is because if there is other damage, then they will fix it and charge Petro, they will not say "oh ... yeah .. about that oil pickup tube, it is kinked but the mechanic said that it was only the oil pan that petro said was damaged, we just left it there, you may see a drop in oil pressure but just ignore that".Socal Xpress, passingthru69, driverdriver and 7 others Thank this. -
And now that I read it, more probable.LoudOne Thanks this. -
Petro would just slap a pan on it and kick it out the door. Its a loss against them so they want it out the door ASAP so they can free up the bay and make money. Volvo, on the other hand, is going to find everything that needs to be replaced since its a revenue generating job for them. If a bearing cap had so much as a scratch on it you can bet Volvo would be replacing it and probably all the main bearings since you can't just put one new bearing in without stressing the crank.DDlighttruck, AtticusRoad and visoiuvlad Thank this. -

On top of that a week after I got also problems with the air dryer filter, it wasn't replaced when it was supposed and had to replace the AHI module and pressure regulator.
