Hey guys and gals, I'm a new driver and I don't have any experience yet and I'm looking to get my foot in the door somewhere, I obtained my class one in December 2016 and still no luck yet.
Currently I live in Southern Alberta, Lethbridge.
I'm interested in flatdeck work but at this point I would take anything.
Unfortunately i currently don't have a vehicle so I'm limited to where I can look which doesn't help.
I do however have a job but its just general labor, I would love to use my class 1.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
New and still no luck :(

Get on with Rosenau to get you started. I guarantee that you won't regret it. They've been around for 60 years now. They also own Acropolis warehouse and I think they have one in your hometown.uncleal13 Thanks this. -
Lots of companies are willing to take on new drivers your issue or problem is having transport and your location. Now may be time to move closer to where you wish to obtain work.orcen Thanks this.

H&R TRansport, B&D Walter, JK Trucking, Hughson Trucking, all are based out of Lethbridge. The last three have flat deck divisions.

H&R doesn't have dedicated training, rarely they'll take someone new, they prefer 1 year experience.
B&D does take new drivers, going to drop off another resume today,
Both JK and Hughson are 3 year's exp
I hit dozens of places over the winter but now that its spring im heading out today to reapply to everything again.
Theres companies here but only maybe a handful will train if lucky, slim pickings for new drivers, if i had a car id probably be trucking now, i would hit Calgary and surrounding areas, but nope, the tranny had to go ☹️ -
you will have a hard time, get a local company to get experience befor doing high way. for a period of 6 months first

You should be able to get on with a long haul carrier. H&R? Busy town for that as I recall I haul french fries out of Lethbridge frequently a hundred years ago...the manager owned the lumper service...what a scam that was!

That's where I started, city P&D. Old Gus hired me in 1987. Carl was just starting to become President then. I taught his son Ken (now the President) to drive a three ton when he was 16.not4hire and Prairie Boy Thank this.

Get on with a courrier or the like (that has 5 tons and tandem bodyjobs) running a 5 ton, move up to class 3 work. Once you have experience shifting and driving big vehicles it will be an easier sell to get into tractors.
Dont underestimate the value of learning to shift effortlessly with a bodyjob.
Lots of class 3 work in construction and gravel hauling. -
Not having a vehicle is going to really make it hard for you...
