I've been working nights since I started working in any capacity. With the craziness that defines the milk hauling circus, the night shifts with the line-haul seems right up my alley and would kind of put me back into some sort of groove.

I'm one that tried to maintain my awake/sleep schedule when working nights. Even though I had a wife and two kids. But I never, ever got an uninterrupted sleep when working graves. I'd get home just before the kids left for school. After they were gone, I'd try to get to bed, until just before they'd get home. Of course there were always things that came up that I'd have to stay up and take care of. So I'd get maybe 3-4 hours of sleep then. Then get my head down for a couple of hours before leaving for work.

Oh how well I know that look! Wife # 2 was totally unable to understand that there's no difference between working day shift and popping a bottle after work, or working a night shift and popping a bottle after work.

I been on line haul over 20 years. When all is right I depart 8pm and return 5am. Pin to pin. No weekends ever. My biorhythm is screwed. I don't get tired at night,,no yawns, nothing!
The positive side is it allows me plenty of time to work on my hotrods, tractors, fishing, ...important stuff! There is more to life than making a living

Oh, you mean like once or twice a year, when there are no screw ups, no mechanical problems with truck, trailers, or converter gears, no major traffic tie ups due to crashes, construction or weather, no scales where they go over EVERYTHING with a fine tooth comb?
You mean those days, when all is right?;)

And since we're talking about linehaul, don't forget all the trailers that come in with issues that never get wrote up and fixed.

Big Don, TequilaSunrise and crb Thank this.

We say the same thing about the city drivers. But the truth is there are bad apples doing both jobs.
