So you are a gamer? Get over it.

As a truck driver it's another reality, on a few different levels.

First, the level of scrutiny for high value loads doesn't compensate you for your time appropriately. My brother once hauled a load of four pallets that required police escort from the Illinois state line to delivery in the Chicago area.

Four hours waiting without pay for the police escort.

    The load? Unlocked smartphones.

Don't confuse your personal hobbies with your professional life as a trucker. In fact, don't be gaming on your 10 hour break. Take care of ####ing business. When you are logging a 10 then SLEEP.

I was a gamer when home, not trucking. But that was early on when online gaming took off. When you are on the truck, you sleep. You don't game. You will find out very fast gaming is a parasite on your sleep and ability to stay safe.

No sleep equals being drunk or worse IMHO. You can kill people that way.

Gaming is such so over it. A bad thing to have when there is trucking to do.

When I was a kid I played with toys, when I got older I put the toys away. But fast forward to now, Im still a gamer because Im no longer able to truck. There is time availible to enjoy it a little bit. But if you ask me, the community of gamers with the young brats using really bad words and disreputable character destruction in game chat along with what I consider over the top bigorty, racism and outright obscene and deviant abuse?

I don't game much anymore. It's gotten really bad. I focus on other things I found more enjoyment than dealing with 63 nasty filthy minded lemmings in a game map. Forget it. Those days are over.

I just want to know. I don't steal. I'd love to haul a truck load of games at least once to brag that I did to my other gamer friends. Just saying.

Its a load. It comes with problems going into places with known threats. Gamers could care less, most you get a response back is "Nice story"

So you hauled a load of games, yeehaw, big deal. It's a load. Widgets. Toiletpaper, cans of soda, lettuce... ammo? all of that is just a load. Do you understand? Who cares?

If you are looking for recognizing in this life in trucking by hauling a load of games everyone will quit playing in 6 months in favor of the next big release product and forget about in 10 years .... then I suspect you might not have had adequate erm.. attention or love in your early years.

Im not your enemy. I hauled pokemon when it was really big back then. All I heard was big dispatchers telling me to keep my big freaking mouf shut about that stupid trailer. I was glad to be rid of it. A week later sister walked into toys r us looking for some pokies in the toy line and pointed at em 10 feet high on shelves... some of which I might have hauled... big deal. But if it keeps the kids happy and squealing in joy.. then Im happy too.

Just a little bit. And it takes a awful lot to make me happy.

If you want to brag about a load, do it well AFTER it's been safely delivered. Especially with high value loads you NEVER EVER mention what you are hauling, not even to your friends or family. If you can't follow this basic rule you won't be on that account for long and you can end up dead.

I know this. I'm not stupid. Can't see friends or family until I'm home nor speak to them when I'm not driving.

@street beater said it right. If you want to be excited or take pride in what you haul then step away from pulling a dry van. Pull a flatbed or other open deck. Every time you pull into a truck stop with a well secured load your handiwork is on display. You can tell whether a flatbedder takes pride in his work by looking at the securement.

The real pride is showing up to the shipper and realizing it's not simply throwing a few chains or straps. It's complicated. The crane or forklift operator asks YOU how you want it placed on the deck.

Then you roll into the truck stop and park and someone comes up, eyeing your load, "What the heck is THAT!!??"

As for cargo theft of a flatbed load, if someone can get a 35' long four ton motor off my deck into the bed of their pickup truck, then power to them.
