My Cobra 29 stopped transmitting for whatever reason. It receives fine, and certainly no issue with hearing any of the weather channels. Keying up doesn't swing the meter, and the red "transmit" light isn't coming on.
Right now I'm sitting at a CB shop at a truck stop waiting to get it looked at.
He said something about maybe a blown final, a "driver", or a "mixer", whatever that is...

Please post the outcome. I have a 148gtl that does this from time to time.

The guy checked the power supply first. Good there.
Then he tested the transmission and couldn't get anything.
I didn't do any of the "peak and tune" crapola either.
I'm hoping 10 years of riding in a spring ride single screw didn't just kill it. -

Hope it can be fixed, but if it did kill it, look at it this way...it cost you all of $1/month to run.
Broke Down 69 Thanks this. -

He just said low voltage to the buffer. Losing 8 volts....

He's got it working again. Couldn't fix the meter though. It's froze up. Off track or something. Apparently that's a tough job on a radio with weather band.
Sounds like a good time to pick up an external one. -
Only charged me $20. I can live with that.
bored silly Thanks this. -
sure it isn't the mic?
rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
