Thank you, this is useful....and I kinda felt as tho if I was gonna live in it and put allot down on it....I better like it and be able to do what I want with it. Tho I was worried about fuel (or course). I'm glad to hear of the mpg. your getting....What I don't understand (and hate to start a arguement between anyone)...is how is it that I could progressive shift, turn the truck off, was always cut to 65 mph and do the other requested company mpg things and never get over 6.3....rarely up to 6.7 mpg. Wouldn't these bigger more horse engines only get worse milage for me?

one more question....why does everyone hate freightshakers? Is daimlher the same as the one that makes dodge? They do seem cheaper, so I would have to assume the awnser is that their cheaper? Just curious. And thanks for the idea on dealer markups....nice to have some kinda clue instead of getting screwed.

No they will actually use less fuel since they work way less. Cmpare a 550hp 1850lb acert CAT to a 430hp detroit 1450lb.

The CAT has a flat 1850lb torque curve from 1100rpm, and has 550hp by 1500rpm. Thats pulling power, the detroit, while yes will probably be a little bit better on millage then the CAT, will be way down in the power department and with a 80k lb gross running over the mountains the CAT will beat it in both pulling and millage in the same body truck. WHen i started out with my truck i got 3.8-4.1mpg, but that quickly changed when i got my hands on it and started messing with the engine.

You get what you pay for with shakers, PACCAR products are built solid where the daimler is built like crap and rattles itself to death, you never know when you will get hit in the head by flying plastic shelving.

You also aren't talking about a stock motor in your truck either. Once again(we've had this discussion before 550), I agree completely that making a few extra bucks isn't worth being miserable. You see your truck as a toy and a tool. My trucks have always been nothing more than a tool to me. I could give two shats what you or anybody else think about what I drive. The only people I need to impress are my wife, God, and my banker. I am all about the bottom line. A "purdy" truck and a high horsepower truck don't do a thing for me. I use my man toys to scratch that boyish itch if you will.

I also agree that producing more horsepower "frees" up a motor and it thus runs more efficiently provided it is driven properly. The fact is though, when MOST people ask these types of questions on here, they are looking at stock trucks and they will never be much more than stock trucks. With that being said, why not give them the best specs possible on a stock truck?

And Btw Martin, pull that motor out of the W9 and drop it into a T6 and you would get even better fuel mileage.(Or are you going to tell me that the laws of physics don't apply to you?)

How many more times do we have to have this discussion my friend? I know where you stand and you know where I stand. Maybe I should just come on up to Michigan and we can have us a good 'ol knock down drag out brawl. That would be more fun. I'd buy the beer afterwards even.LOL

I absolutely agree that shakers are built cheap and it definitely shows. He77 after all of these years, they still haven't figured out how to make truck doors seal good. He's right, you get what you pay for. The benefit to shakers is the dealer network is huge(seems to be one on every corner), and replacement parts are inexpensive compared to other truck manufacturers.

Come on up, im always around!

Im sure it would get better millage in a T6, would i sell my truck for a T6? NO! Would it run hotter than shat in a T6 do to a small radiator, under hood air filter, and way worse air flow around the motor? YES!

I sai dthe truck got horrible millage when it was stock and corked up with catalytic converters, which were plugged up by the way, once i dumped them and ran straight pipes with a fuel temp wire i was consitently pulling in 5.2-5.6mpg which is #### respectable for a truck my size with the gap in between the trailer.

My truck to me is a toy and a money maker, i love my truck, yes i said it! To me trucks, big engines, and trucking is a life style. Yes we all might say we hate it but i bet if You, Al, Brick, Bronc, agent, pathfinder, and me sat down and started knocking back brews the first topic that would come up is trucking.

Don't worry about starting an argument between 550 and I. We have these pissing contests all the time. We will never see eye to eye.

Now you see that? You actually agreed with everything I said. Same as I agree with what you say. Martin, All I am really saying is that you come on some of these topics and talk about how your big HP large car gets great mileage. That IS true and I don't dispute that. The thing is, you don't always mention what the fuel mileage WAS before you put all of that work and money into it. Most of us in THE thread know what's up, but somebody in FABER's position looks at your general attitude of big HP and Large Cars is the only way to go. If they take it for exactly how it's put out there and they go out and buy a W9 or 379 and start driving 80 mph and use all of the available HP their fuel mileage is gonna be 3-4.5 mpg. If they are leased to a cpm company like alot of these new O/O's do, they are going to be broke in a matter of weeks and scratching their head wondering what the he77 happened.

That little round table at a bar or in somebody's basement would be fun. Yes, we would talk about trucking because most of us are just dumb truck drivers who only know trucks, fast women, fast cars, and drinkin'. Hell, we could talk about politics but then we would have a room full of bloody noses and black eyes.(Especially with Al there)LMAO

    LOL that closet obama lover.

I dont know where you say i disagree with you, i may poke fun but im not serious, you buy what you like and thats that, i may poke fun at the vulva you got but im not serious, i know its kinda hard to get over the internet.

As for my truck getting poor millage when stock is i atribute that to my catalytic converters being plugged after 5 years of use. They were literally plugged solid with soot, my pyro was at 1200*F constant, as soon as i got rid of those my millage went up. Them being plugged is not normal, and it should be adressed. Like i said after that i got 5.2-5.6mpg on a basically stock BRIDGE CAT motor. I never said it got good millage when it was stock, but once i got the cats off it was pretty good.
