    Well, to begin that saga, it requires at least a full pony keg, some good pizza, and some classic rock playing softly in the background. But mostly it had to do with relocating for the wife's work. Well, no, it was entirely because of her work.

    Why not for hire signs mean nothing?

    Becuase they don't.

    The sign is used when you are a private company hauling your own product and not for hire.

    No other reason.

    Some states will pull you over because of it, others will just ignore it but overall it is absolutely meaningless.

    If the company tells you to do this, then they are clueless to the laws and regulations behind the words - not for hire.
