When they audit you and find it falsified log, they issue you "points". The number of points vary by the nature and extent of the infraction.
Discipline is graduated, phone call-verbal warning and instruction, then a trip to a terminal for "retraining", then discipline up to and including termination.
I've actually found the adjustment to logging legal much easier than I thought. It actually makes my job less stressful...can't tell you how many times I've worried about what would happen if some ####### got me in an accident while I was driving on my 12th or 13th hour.Motorhead01, knighton5 and craig7740 Thank this. -
My bubble is still intact. You do need to be happy doing what you want to do. My comment was directed at your high praise of Crete in previous posts. Now you are looking for local. And tanker as well. Since you are taking it for pay and time off, I can only assume that your weekly pay at Crete is not as good as you thought it was. Also, the time off looks better than you got with Crete. Crete is just like any other large company and treat drivers accordingly. I wonder what there turnover is? Do you know?

sounds like they are pretty anal!!! well im heading down to carlise on sunday to start orientation

Comparing Crete to the ones you mentioned? You've got to be kidding us! They are all pretty much the same judging by the many posts on here.
They all do the same thing. They pay their drivers mileage (not hub but practical, another rip-off). They provide minimal, if any benefits (health, dental and vision) at a high cost to the driver. They provide a 401k (as if a driver has enough money left over to contribute). They all expect their drivers to work for free for a period of time either loading or unloading. They do pay vacation but never advertise how much per week. I don't see many that advertise paid time off (holiday, sick, jury duty etc).
You see, they are pretty much all the same. Maybe someone will post that they work at a company that is otr and provides something different than what was stated above. I won't hold my breath. Please, union drivers, there is no need for you to reply . We all know how you are paid and the benefits you receive. No offense.
As for me knighton5, I don't haul garbage. I don't have a felony record or gaps in my employment. I don't think I will need apply to Crete or any of the others.
I much prefer to continue working where I am driving my tanker. I like being paid by the hour with overtime after 8 hours. I like working Monday thru Friday with weekends off unless I want more pay. I like being home with my wife and children every night. I like paying $210.00 per month for health, dental and vision insurance for my entire family. I like being paid 1 5/2 of my last years gross for each week of vacation (3 weeks at this time). I like that the company matches my retirement up to 5% of my last years gross. I like that my company provides holidays (8), sick days (5), jury service (14) all of which are paid at 8 hours. There are more benefits but that is enough.
I think I will stay just where I am at. Do you think that any of the companies you mentioned even come close to what I have? I didn't think so. Can't wait to read about your new local company. Hopefully, it will be better for you and yours.
Sorry to burst your bubble! -
Don't know why the face showed up. It should read 8 days. Sorry for the confusion.

My praise for Crete? They are better than any other OTR I drove for. The other question, local position - I'm not looking for local, it came to me from a friend (I'm still waiting to see what happens). Weekly pay at Crete 900-1100 NET PAY, Not Gross. Ive never made more anywhere else. Time off you ask? How can you compare OTR to local? I wont answer that one. As for Cretes turnover is? I dont Know. Why would I care?
Have a good one buddy!

You must be in the wrong message board.... But I will say to you: WOW, your the angel , WE here at CRETE wish we were as great as you! Nobody can be any better than you or your company you work for. We praise you because Crete is no better than any other. What can we do BDUKE to make you happy? You havent said a positive post on this website since you started babbling here! What truckstop can we meet at?

They are very heavy with the battery system. I am carrying 4 extra batteries for it. Empty weight full of fuel is 34,600 so I usually plan to have less than 1/2 when I show an MT call. It's easier and less time consuming to adjust fuel levels than have to pull out drive 30 miles to a scale and end up returning to have some taken off. Plus some loads they just will not "cut" and I could end up having to sit and wait on a load that will work for my truck. No thanks I'll use the extra brain power to figure how much I need and my time to stop to shoot another 50 gal in.

How Long does it take to charge the batteries? also are they connected to the trucks batteries, or stand alone.
