Not ruffling any feathers here just was my observation. I thought they had those buzzers for when you slightly move out of the lane or something? Do they let you pull over if it's unsafe to drive? Do you have to carry chains?Last edited: May 14, 2017
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Good question.
Comdata is THE preferred method of payment in the trucking industry. Basically it is like a debit card, with some additional features for safety and information.
You can only use a Comdata card if you are assigned a truck number and driver number. When you use it to purchase fuel, for example, you will be asked to supply that information. In addition you might have to provide trip number, trailer number, or whatever your company requires.
Comdata can be used for payroll, for your company to pay you. This is the default, until you provide bank account information for direct deposit to go to your bank account or if you prefer a paper check. Comdata can't be used to spend your money just anywhere, like a debit card. Be SURE to set up your payroll to go straight to your bank account.
If you have to get the truck repaired or pay lumpers at a warehouse, Comdata can be used. But in this case you use Comchecks, which require your company to upload funds exactly for the amount of payment, then you need to register a particular Comcheck, then the payee needs to call to activate payment on that check.
Payment is instant, like cash. For that reason Comdata is the number one method of payment for the trucking industry. You get the cash payment discount when buying fuel, for example. -
The title of the thread is swift, I assume he's driving for Swift.

You are to be ignored in moments as well for the simple reason you're another loser troll and have nothing intelligent to say.

I haven't been driving for Swift for two years. I don't know if they have installed lane control technology. They encourage drivers to park it if conditions are unsafe. They require all drivers to carry chains, because many states will issue YOU a ticket if you aren't carrying chains. However, anyone thinks they can safely park it whenever conditions get slick, think again. Learn to drive in slick conditions. You will need that skill if a storm comes on you quickly, at least until you can find a safe place to park. You can't just stop in the middle of the road and curl up in the bunk in a fetal position.

The new trucks do have the lane alert system to let you know when you are going too far out of your lane.
Learn to drive within the lane and it won't sound.
If you think it is unsafe to drive you have a responsibility to get somewhere safe to shut down. 'They' have nothing to do with it as it is your decision.
You do not have to carry chains.
But if you are in a state that requires you to carry chains it could be bad for you if you don't have them.
Chains weigh about 200 pounds for a full set, so the weight is not really an issue. Why would you not carry them?Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Not sure exactly what you were trying to say there.
FWIW I never once had anyone at Swift question my judgement or try to second guess me when I decided to shut down because of bad road conditions. As long as I let them know what was going on they were OK with my decisions.Lepton1 Thanks this.
