Swift transportation and Stevens transportation

Hi, I just read through this thread cause I'm strongly considering going to Stevens also. I've spent a couple weeks looking through all the companies that will take newbies and train them and from what I've seen Stevens seems the best to me. So I have a couple questions. Do you get to pick which location you go to for CDL training between Denver and Dallas or do they just tell you? I live in Missouri, so I was curious about how that would work since I'm one state over from both Colorado and Texas. Also what's the deal with the blood pressure test? If you get a reading too high are you just disqualified and sent home? I've read that like half of all Americans have high blood pressure.

 

Sorry Longshot: Yes, I was kind of joking. Averitt is a trucking company. I drove a dedicated act for them and covered NM, TX and OK delivering to Dollar General stores. I did this when I first completed Midland College Transportation CDL school in 2013. I got scared though, did not make the necessary adjustments, let some things pile up on me and quit in good standing. Good thing no one inspected my HOS logs. I did not quite understand HOS.

I returned to another job and now have retired from that (served State of TX for a total of 23 yrs). Now am going with Swift to obtain cdl again and will work for them for a year. Am thinking of seeing if I can get into the flatbed division.
