I think your the one that is a little confused. You think I am a rookie who just hired on. Do your homework before you try to make me look like a newbie!![]()
Maverick is no different then most OTR carriers. You keep your truck out of the ditch and draw a strait line in the right place and you got a job. They have ads in all the truck stop rags like the rest of the revolving door outfits. So it's not about homework or how new you are. It's about reality.![]()

When I started driving, I did "research". I talked to drivers. But not enough. I did not learn a thing, except that the driving industry is full of bottom feeding scum, like many others, just more so. Most drivers, just like recruiters, are worthless to talk to, now I could be wrong. I am a driver after all. But now I know why this industry is so screwed. Its becasue of all the dirtbags that think $35,000 is "good money" and will do anything illegal to have a crack at it. I started out with maverick, sorry to say. It was a huge waste of time. The place is a joke, no different then your other mills, maybe even worse. I was on the specialized side. I left after only a relatively short time because I wanted to keep my cdl. I talk to there drivers whenever I can. Still the same. Notarps, do mav drivers really average $53,000 a year? Like the giant billboard on the interstate says? Or in the truckstop comic books where you can always find them next to all the other junk? If you read the first post in this thread, it nails the place right on the head.

The avg for 1st year drivers is 52.5
-
What I was saying is there is no way 1st year drivers at Maverick are averaging 52k a year. Maybe every 18 months.
Besides, if they really were making that amount and drivers were home "every weekend", and
their hiring standards were truly so high, they would have very little turnover.I heard Steve Williams, Ceo of Mav, state in an interview that last year they made no profit. I was not impressed at all there. My trainer was a walking talking joke, my training was half as#ed. Sounds like swift or werner. -
How long was you there?

As a Maverick driver I felt compelled to answer some of the BS I have seen on this thread. Notarps is correct in his statement that 1st year Maverick drivers average 52.5 K this includes student as well as experienced drivers. I for one get home on the weekend 90 to 95 percent of the time and run 2400 to 3000 miles per week if you expect more out of trucking you need to find another career. As far as turnover is concerned the industry average is somewhere around 145% at Maverick it is currently somewhere around 50 to 60 percent alot of that coming from whiners and lazy drivers so calling Maverick a driver mill is completely out of context. The statement that Maverick did not make a profit is true however they are still in buisness and are still debt free. How many other company's can say that? So my advice to Cressler and others like him is to get your facts staight before you start talking about something you evidently don't know anything about that way I won't have to write any more of these rebuttals.

-Oh and to state one other thing (this being my opionion) ....the people in the office are not in positions I would want to be in....they really were held responsible to get a statistical number of drivers home every weekend....and proably under a #### load of stress.Last edited by a moderator: Oct 27, 2008
