Some would if they think they can get quality care for $20 or less. I personally would have to be in dire situation. And if I was that bad off, I'd probably seek out an in-network healthcare professional
-
Employ good physicians, be in network for major insurance and I'd go in if I needed it. That said I'd rather go to the ER than ever walk in to any of those "urgent care" style places
-
Yes this would be very helpful and your correct it would need to be at high traffic locations in addition to that locations that you could draw from local residents as well.
-
I'm guessing you may off had a bad experience with a urgent care facility.
I live in a large city and have used them a time or two. The ones in my city are basically off shoots of the hospitals here.
Hospital name/ urgent care. -
I've had.. a lot of bad experiences lol. At this point for minor things I'll go to one of those cvs minute clinics, but anything at all complicated I'll just go to my primarySuspect Zero and driverdriver Thank this.

It has been tried. Some years back, Dr. John McElligott opened several clinics, mostly along I40. Knoxville Petro was one. Don't remember the others. Couldn't make it work.
-
It's going to be very hard because the big companies already have contract with you guess it the other big companies doing it like consentra
-
They need clinics at truck stops to treat you for food poisoning.

STD is not a basic. There are health units run by Counties or State that handles that level of problem. Colds and coughs are infectious as well, you isolated yourself into the sleeper or hotel room and waited it out to see if it will break in a few days or worsen requiring a hospital visit. High blood pressure simply disqualified me from being hired. It took about a year to fight it. Even today I still have it, upwards of 165/130 on really bad days. There is no medicine in the world that can fight something like that. And back pain? Well.. if you cannot lump freight or food etc then you are no good to the employer that requires a good back eh?
What's left? Not too much. Anything heavier requires a ER visit for a evaluation and patching up where possible. If you were really bad off, they admit you and then we will go from there. I have been sick with fever, infections etc many a time in the sleeper waiting for it to break. Bosses were pretty patient and tolerant as long I behaved. Once I was sick with a infected appendix and could not get better in a couple days. I was being hunted by several state polices in the NE that week. I made it home in a 10 hour coffee and cigerette boosted effort. Only to pass out and wake up at hospital for surgery that saved life and removed the problem. They told me to stay home 6 weeks, I was back to work at 3rd week.
Essentially with what the failing insurance situation and the pending loss of medicaid, etc no one is going to be visiting a clinic any time soon. And the clinic will not be able to prescribe opoids for pain etc without a specific and defensible medical reason. And what else can they do? Well, they can give you a blanket, a little O2 and diagnose something and call the ambulance for higher care if necessary. Otherwise back to work you go. And for what?
It's better to use that space in the truckstop for something else more useful.
