According to FMCSR 395.2 there is no off duty time in the truck . You are either driving , in the sleeper , or on duty , not driving .

I know that this is a little off topic, but I am noticing more and more officers making traffic stops in dangerous places. It is no wonder that more of them do not get hit.

I have never seen a trooper knocking on doors in a rest area, but they do like to sit about a 1/2 mile from the enterance of the rest area and then pull you into them to perform their duties. It's happened to me several times here in Ohio.

In KS recently I saw one doing a level 1 at the side of the big road. Just begging to be run over, with his creeper out in the driving lane.

that's just brilliant. When I got stopped (3 times in 8 miles) in CA for my mudflap, the one time I stopped in a ... questionable place, the cop got on the CB and asked me (ASKED) to move a bit down the road where it was safer.

i have witnessed ohio leo's waking up a driver to bust his chops in a rest area, i don't see how waking up a driver when he is sleeping makes the roads any safer. just seein that makes me angry. nowadays i just blast through that state afap.

Just remember-they that have the badge and gun make the rules.Sometimes when it suits them.
Virginia is good at waking drivers up on ramps. As a virginian it embarrasses me(and ticks me off)that they hassle truckers.I think maybe they could put more troopers undercover and try to do something about the methamphetamine epidemic .Guess its safer as most truckers aren`t carryingweapons. My tax dollars at work.
