Hi I'm new to the forum and wanted to know about CDL schooling. I'm interested in truck driving, although not 100% sure if that is what I want to do but again have an interest, and was wondering if anyone on these forums know of good CDL schools down in North Carolina. I'm moving from PA to NC in a couple months and would like to know if their is any CDL schools that have training for a month. I have heard you can get your CDL in a month and if I was 100% sure on this would like to get my CDL quick so I can start truck driving. Looking forward to posts.

Millis Transfer has school in Eden,NC and is a really good outfit. Make about $50K starting out.
All it costs you is $500.00 which is used for fees.

Also you will need original birth certificate and original social security card that's not laminated. -
What does Millis Transfer company do as far as delivering. I will of course have to find out what part of NC I will live in, unsure at the moment.

Millis is dry van and runs Eastern half of USA. They haul lots of beer and soft drinks and mostly drop & hook loads.
-
Oh okay so its a beverage company. So I will be doing OTR.
-
It's not a beverage company, but they have many beverage contracts. You'll probably be home every weekend at least. They provide meals and lodging while in school. They have some threads on here; just put Millis Transfer in the search feature.
It's considered one of the best dry van companies around. -
What is dry van by the way?
-
Dry van is not refrigerated.
-
Okay, thanks for the info. Is it possible that coming out of school I can get a local job or will it most likely be OTR?
-
There's another dry van in Swannanoa,NC that has their own school.

Teams run west coast and solo drivers stay eastern states. You will run west coast with your trainer though until the training is complete. Probably do 10 to 12 west coast runs with your trainer. After your training is complete and you decide you don't want teams, then you'll stay in the eastern states.
