That pesky camera discussion raises its ugly head again. The only time I even remotely realize its on the windshield is when someone mentions it. After 4+ years driving here, and what I make, along with my hometime, I could care less about them. In the 4+ years here, I have never once been called on the carpet about my driving, the 4 hard brakes I've had or even waking up in the morning, sitting on the edge of my bed, with nothing more then a smile on my face. In case anyone was wondering where they are mounted or what the look like, here's a couple of pictures.
If I had to choose, I'd say leaving the curtains open. I'm 61, not looking like I did 30 years ago. And the way I look waking up, sheesh.

Here's a first. I'm here at my drop in Phoenix getting a whole load of coolers off. Real tight dock at this Fry's supermarket. I get settled, dude comes out and tells me good job, he and his boys will be done unloading and cleaning the trailer in less then an hour. Cool I think, so I sit in my truck and then bam, it hits me, the putrid smell of a sewer. I get out and look and there it is, a cover to a sewer line right under my drivers seat. The smell is enough to make you throw up. I disconnected from
my trailer and moved to the parking lot in front of the store.bigred81 Thanks this. -
I got my reload earlier today. A fellow driver loaded a load in Torrance Ca going to Monroe NC for Friday morning. He lives here in Phoenix and has hometime. He and I will be swapping first thing in the morning. When it comes to fellow drivers with hometime due, it doesn't matter to me one bit, I will do whatever I can to make sure they get home. I just hope it plays the same way Friday for me when I get empty and it's time for me to go home.

Sorry John but I'm going to add my .02 ....
Personally I think inside facing cameras are nothing more then a way for a company to deflect liability and blame a driver. Oh look the driver was drinking a soda, smoking a cigarette, on the CB, changing the station on the radio, whatever. I'm not saying Abilene did it for that reason but I do think most will use it against a driver if they can/have to. Maybe that's just the cynical NYer in me but I don't trust anyone, especially lawyers.
I will say the camera location in your truck is much better then my experience with one. G&P mounts the inside facing camera on the left corner of the windshield, it was roughly 18" from my face. After 3 weeks I had enough.
That said, I'm still thinking hard about Abilene because the pluses seem to outweigh the minuses, from what I can tell. They have had a solid reputation for a long time, long before they had cameras.Last edited: May 23, 2017

On a whole different subject, the American Truck historical Society show is in Des Moines Iowa this weekend. There are a few trucks from the boss man's museum that got here today.
Just a side note if anyone is in the area needing a reset.
Be safe out there
