Actually, if you truly read and comprehend what exactly the OP wrote, I think it makes perfectly good sense, for him. He isn't recruiting, he's telling us how it is for him. If he's happy and taking care of his house, why should you, I or anybody else care. I'm ready for some new insight. Carry on!

Nope. I'm not a recruiter. I'm a lease operator here. JCT has a referral bonus for recruitment but that's not my goal here. I just want people to know how things are at this company.scythe08, U.S. Otriad, Jarhed1964 and 1 other person Thank this.

.90 cents per mile plus fuel surcharge which is .21 cents per mile right now. Teams make .95 cents per mile plus fuel surcharge. There is a .03 cent increase on loads less than 600 miles. The base rate is lower than most companies but the miles are high. I have heard that JCT is working on a possible rate increase but I don't know to what and when.
Fixed truck payment per week is $120. Then you have a variable truck payment based on your weekly miles at a certain rate. The variable rate is determined by the year/model truck you lease. Mine is currently .23 cents per mile.
Qualcomm $11.53 per week
Physical damage insurance is based on the truck. Average is around $100 per week.
Bobtail $7.62 per week
OCC/ACC $36.62 per week
Maintenance account is either .05 or .06 cents per mile per week. (Newer trucks have lower rate)
There are options for Drivers Legal Plan and ATBS if the driver chooses.
That's it on weekly deductions.
As a solo my weekly settlements averaged around $1100 a week. Some times less, sometimes more.
As a team we average about $2100 per week.tscottme Thanks this. -
I would agree with everything except about the variable payment. They don't take more out of your settlement because you ran more miles. The variable rate is based on your miles. You will ALWAYS make more money no matter what your miles are. A driver with 3000 miles is going to bring in more money versus a driver with 2500.
And you are right. You have to run smart. Be efficient with your time and how you operate. That's a must when running your own deal.Jarhed1964 Thanks this. -
First off, freight rates are the same across the board. Bigger companies can negotiate better rates based on volume if loads but overall freight rates don't change all that much.
We haul a ton of juice out of Florida. Those loads don't pay all that well and they never have. Produce and meat is still the better paying freight. I'm sure some of their rates are upwards of $2.50 per mile but that's not the norm.U.S. Otriad and Jarhed1964 Thank this. -
Sounds like you are making it work. The only thing I would disagree with you about is that freight rates are the same across the board. That's simply not true. Going into Florida with a reefer, you're company is probably getting 3.5+ a mile. Coming out, maybe a 1.5. Going into Montana, 3+, coming out, less.
Freight rates go up and down by lane, and supply and demand. Trust me, your company makes a lot on some loads, and might run negative on others.
But either way, thanks for all the numbers. Sounds like most any lease program. If you are good with money and mpg, it can be done.Dharok, Ssand Man and tallinthesaddle4life Thank this. -
You can make more money as a company driver and be home every day or every weekend and say you actually stay the 5 years and pay the truck off what you now have is a high mileage aero plastic truck that has hardly any value and most likely will be due for a inframe with costs around 30k which is why I have a hard time understanding why anybody would do a l/p but hey if your happy there more power to you,me personally if my credit was bad and I had no money and wanted to own my own truck I'd fix my credit and save for a down payment through a dealer again I'm not downing anybody but It just don't make no sense to me.Dharok, Highway_Executive, mladen86 and 1 other person Thank this.

Regarding the part in bold, just to be clear, are you saying if Steel runs 1800 miles this week and you run 4000 miles this week, at the end of the week you settlements will reflect you paid the same truck payment? I was under the impression, by definition, "variable" meant the more miles you turn in, the more they take out of your settlement. So if you take off 2 consecutive weeks, you would essentially have no truck payments (understanding, of course, there would still be the mandatory $120 or so per week that you would have to pay, or go in the red for).
Am I wrong?Steel Tiger and tallinthesaddle4life Thank this.
