Your game plan is going to change.
Sitting all day and waiting for the price to go up
In the late evening, then rushing to get loaded
And drive 450 miles over night to get unloaded at
10 am somewhere is not going to be a regular
Thing anymore.
Your gonna be left stranded somewhere.
Wherever you squeeze that 10 hour break in,is going
To cost you a day.
Do you take it after you get unloaded in the morning.
Then you won't be able to deadhead and make most
Pick up times by 5 or 6 pm.
Or you get loaded late in the evening and have to take
It sometime during the night. Which puts you delivering
The next day late in the afternoon, and that's if there's
No traffic delays whatsoever.
No more sucking that dead time out the log book.
Every delay that clock is ticking.
Short overnight freight with a live load on each end
Is pure hell on e-logs.
Somebody's gonna ruin your whole week.
Accident,construction, load not ready,detours,
Flat tire, anything.
Get as much as you can to cover the day or two
You gonna have to sit.
I just started them 2 weeks ago. Had to change my
Trip plans 4 times already. All due to accidents and
Construction and rush hour traffic.
Luckily we run long freight so I was still able to make
All my appointments.MarkH129 Thanks this. -
Ive been on elogs over a year and its extremely rare they effect anything. And the vast majority of my freight is short over night runs, you just learn to utilize that 8/2 split.MarkH129 and dngrous_dime Thank this. -
I remember someone posted on TTR that ....
"If you believe e-logs are going to mess with your income, you are probably running your business wrong."
I wish I can locate that post.spyder7723 Thanks this. -
E- logs don't change anything.
I guess the DOT spent the last 10 years pushing
This thing thru because they had nothing else to do.
And every driver and company that's fought it along
The way had nothing to do either.
He's gonna change the way he runs, and the promises
He makes to brokers.
He's outlaw now he can make those promises for
The extra money. He's gonna think twice about it
With that clock ticking away.
The majority of your freight is short. I won't touch
That overnight stuff. Sitting at docks all day then driving
All night. You can have my share. -

7 months is a long time and until then I will wear my cowboy hat. Do I do things unsafe, NO!
Flip the coin, do you do things unsafe on elogs because your clock is ticking?? YES!Western flyer and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
You book a 300-500 miles load in the afternoon, get to the receiver at midnight. Unload at 8am without starting the clock. Book another load at 1pm, rinse and repeat.
Smart people will outsmart the elogs lol
I honestly can't wait for December. It's gonna be lots of fun watching the crazy mess on the spot marketrollin coal, spyder7723, Diesel Dave and 1 other person Thank this. -
