Yes I know local drivers get over time and they are home every night. Waste Management guys take home 1200/wk and its due to the OT. Theres also a lot of rookie drivers over there with their minimum of 6 months to a year requirement for experience. Drivers OTR should be paid OT. Its just a scam by the government to hold back wages on OTR truck drivers.diesel drinker Thanks this.

So where are all these 25 dollar an hour local jobs
With overtime you speak of. I'm sure there's a whole bunch of local drivers that would like to know.diesel drinker and cnsper Thank this. -
Readymix, everyone is afraid of cement or the double trailers that haul the cement powder. What do you meanLocal drivers would want to know? Anyone not making that kind of money would like to know. They do shy away from Over the road guys, because of the ongoing fatigue factor. Over the road guy have been over worked for so long they have lost some IQ. It takes some time of getting enuff rest to get that all back. That and over the road guys all just want to work for free. A construction quote " never trust a guy that will work for free" or " watch out for that guy, he will work for free"

diesel drinker, cnsper, Crude Truckin' and 2 others Thank this. -
Your nuts if you think the going rate for a local
Driver is 25 bucks an hour. Very few of those jobs.
I'm in Dallas it's 17 an hour all day long around here.
Some cities are less than that.diesel drinker Thanks this. -
Dude in Reno, Nv our guys get 22. Waste management is at 23. Im regional out 4 days, home for fri and weekend.
The arguement here is about the government classifying truck drivers as unskilled and exempt from the FLSA. Overtime should be paid to OTR drivers! -
Ready Mix??? Lol, call Adams Trucking and ask how much they pay for concrete drivers round here. You be good to get $16.00 I bet.

Not to continue the side tracking of this thread, because what a person makes per hour should have nothing to do with an eld, but the are 22+ hour jobs out there. I know. I have done the jobs myself and also managed the drivers making the money. Again these are bust your tail type jobs, food service, ltl, etc. But that being said it is also dependent on the region/City. A guy living over in LA(Lower Alabama) making 14-17 and hour can make 40-50k a year go just as far as guy in the $20 plus ranging and raking in 80k a year but has to live in ATL or some other big city to do it.
But I could be wrong, maybe it is just the Atlanta area paying those wages.
And again wages have nothing to do with the eld argument. -
Thats still 24 per hour over time after 40 hour per week. You laugh at even that wage but YOU dont get overtime pay. Concrete pump operators make 30 or 35 per hour. This is a job that requires a CDL no collage course or degree required. You show up, they test you and if you can handle it your in.
My point here is STOP WORKING FOR FREE, dont donate time EXPECT TO GET PAID FOR THE TIME YOU PUT IN.
Example: If you wait 2 hours to get loaded, log that as ON DUTY TIME count that towards your 60 or 70 hour weekly cap!!!! If you cant make your bills, go drive locally. That is what the rest of the world does.OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.
