Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Are you saying youd like to be paid in airline miles?
Or do companies pay straight line distance miles?
Or you want to be paid per mile for your air travel?Balakov100, Friday and G13Tomcat Thank this. -
I know companies that CLAIM you are only 100 air miles away, wherefore "local" ... and when it takes you 230 miles to get there due to the construction... um... yeah. Get the Kay Why. And buy a logbook, if they don't provide you one.
(Where are we GOING with this?!?!) -
I was wondering if there are any companies that actually pay this way. Also can anyone fully explain practical miles?

Only local haulers are allowed *or supposed to* use air miles. Zip code to Zip code / aka: HHG, or Household Goods as it is known, is the standard mileage guide that Shippers and Carriers use to negotiate rates for freight. It is the shortest legal highway mileage from two points, which an 80,000 trailer may take. The calculation does not consider time as a factor, thus the route may take more driving time, but accomplish less miles. The Practical Route is the most time efficient method of driving.Practical Routes tend to be the more desirable route of travel, and also may be used for calculating Fuel Tax reporting. Both are based on a 53' trailer length and 13'6" clearances.
There are MANY threads on here for further info.... I'm needing a nap before my night shift, or I'd elaborate more. Hope this helps a tad.Ryan423 and augiedoggie41 Thank this. -
Thinking this through; check with Furniture Haulers (bedbuggers) if you want to run local, under a hundred. If nothing else, you'll get the HHG.. ie: zip to zip. Ergo, the name HHG miles.
Personally, getting paid mileage... I preferred practical.
ps: Practical miles is the route that the company "thinks" you should take, or "wants" you to take, to your 90 or receiver or whatnot. However, YMMV. You may only get paid for what miles they "thought" it should have taken you..
I'd look into "actual" miles pay, were I you.augiedoggie41 Thanks this. -
