I am moving to the Charlette NC area at the end of June 2017 and I'm trying to find any union tanker companies in the area. I am actually looking for a company that does not have a camera facing the driver while driving. I'm relocating from Conn. Any help would be appreciated.

Carolina isn't the NE, the only real union driving jobs are LTL companies.

Is there any particular reason for only wanting a union shop?

As pointed out in the forum, there are decent non-union tanker companies to work for.

    NOTE:
I myself was born and raised in Hartford Connecticut. I have been in the workforce 43 years, (since 1974). 2 of those years, (1976 - 1978), I worked in a union company, (unpleasant experience).
The other 41 years were all non-union jobs.

Good luck to you! God bless you and your family!

No there is no reason for a union company. I wanted to start a conversation and hopefully get some good info on the workforce in the Charlette area. I only worked for a union co for 2 years out of the 23 years I've been driving for. I don't know the area very well and need some insight on good companies to work for. Hopefully I could find the right one the 1st time, because I don't want to go from job to job. If I like a job I'll stay there for as long as needed or retire there. I was with the same company for 16 years in the freight business as of 2 years ago then I needed a change because I was at top rate and couldn't go any further up the ladder with that company. Then got a position at a small company hauling dump trailer and tanks and loved it. Then my wife and I decided to move and I went to JB Hunt dedicated account so I could transfer with them to Charlette area. But I don't really see anything available to transfer too. So I am looking around. I talked to a handful of companies and there are lots of possibilities. Thanx for the replies.

Ok bud, first of all it's Charlotte, not Charlette...lol. Second, the whole of the South is pretty anti-union. Not to say that there are none, but Southerners are, by and large, to independent minded to collectively bargain. That said, you could always give UPS a shot...huge terminal at the airport and numerous hubs in the area.

I've heard that Miller Transporters is a union company.

According to their website, they have a terminal in Greensboro, NC, which is about 90 miles from Charlotte. http://www.millert.com/locations
