There's lots of long haul tanker companies. Don't have to be that strong to drag a hose and connect it to a fitting.
Indian River Transport is ok for food grade tanker work and they run coast to coast.

    jordanfsx29,

I ended up going hazmat tanker with CTL. They are close to me here in Jacksonville, FL w/ terminals in other states.

So far, they are OK/ decent. Good tractors, old trailers. They're training me to drive these beasts, so I'm grateful for that.

I like pulling tank wagons though. Slow and easy driving. Tanker utilizes your time somewhat better as far as the different things you get paid to do (tank-wash, demurrage, Layover)

I would suggest follow your gut, but I doubt I pull anything else from here on out.

Smut, Lepton1 and jordanfsx29 Thank this.

Hi Chinatown since I live in mountains edge, maybe you know of tanker companies this way that will start me. I drove CDL A in Chicago 20 years ago city for Centrella foods but only about 4mos, reefer and roller unloads by hand turned me off. I feel you are very knowledgeable even though a lot give you a hard time. Who do you suggest...I am 44 and flatbed might be a lot...I'm getting a little older so want to start out right.

Are you in cdl school now?
I've done the roller unloads and yes, that gets old fast and is hard on the back.
If you need cdl training look at Southwest Truck Driver Training in North Las Vegas. They finance tuition if needed.

A&R Logistics hires drivers with 6 mos. driving experience. They have a terminal in Las Vegas.

There's also decent tanker jobs hauling diesel and DEF for Love's Travel Centers and Pilot/Flying-J.

Thank you so much for the prompt reply. Since I do live in Las Vegas I noticed you suggested NC on the other side of the country. Does it matter where I live for them to hire me? I am also trying to make sure I make it home every few weeks or months.
