The only scales I know of are at the Flying J's in Calgary and Edmonton and the recycling place in Lethbridge. I've never seen a scale at a Husky or Petro Canada. So where do you scale your loads at? I drove the Trans-Canada twice this week from Alberta to Portal and didn't see anything.

grain elevators sometimes have scales--gotta ask locals which ones though. we can usually use the ministry scales--providing they are not open and you are uncertain about your load.....Regina Husky has a scale--CAT, i think.

also, we can carry 38,000 # on our drives and tandems so if you are taking a load to the US, you are usually good to get across the border with however you have things loaded....and there is usually a ministry scale right before you cross the border and can just use those before crossing.

Husky Calgary has one. East Edmonton flying j has one. West Edmonton flying j has one. West Edmonton there is a provincial scale you can use for free. Red deer has a provincial scale just follow signs. Lethbridge has a scale but it is unmanned and you need a prepaid credit card to use it.

I just use the provincial scale most of the time. Free and is certified. Need to know your conversion from metric to English though..

The one in Lethbridge is manned during normal business hours. Afterwards it's self service. I've used the weigh station scale once. I wasn't sure if it was open and rolled in. Saved me a trip to the truck stop. It's a good thing the weigh stations are usually closed. I checked my Canada hours after I crossed back into the US and saw that I was 45 hours past my 24 hour break. Maybe next time I'll check before I go into Canada.

Pretty much every lumber mill has them. Scrapyards as well. CAT-scales in Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Regina and Winnipeg.

MOT scales in SK and MB are rarely open all day long. Eastbound Hwy 16 near Minnedosa, MB or southbound/northbound Hwy 5 near Dauphin are rarely open outside of blitz season.

Avoid grain elevators and feed mills, their scales tend to only fit flat top truck with short stacks. No way you are getting a van in there.

Petro Pass in Calgary on 52 St has a scale.
Any modern concrete grain elevator will fit a dry van. The old wooden ones were only 12 feet high or less. They usually only charge $8.00, sometimes free if you're hauling for someone they know.

Ah JC, there is only one scale in Canada. It's in Ontario. Ontario is somewhere north of Syracuse.:)
