The tarp was old and also had a large patch near the top up front. Like 2x3 feet. At some point overnight while driving it started to come off and was flapping. I couldn't see it because the tarp was black and right up high behind the sleeper.
The patch was fine when I picked up the trailer.
So after 3 hours of sleep and being woken up on my day off I pretty much didn't give a ####. Drove over to the equipment bay and let them change out the tarp.
Mr VP came out as well and decided to scold me like a child. Said it was my fault and I shouldn't have rolled out with that tarp. I should've had it changed out at the plant in Wichita Falls.
I pretty much told him whatever and that I didn't care. My dispatcher actually called me and told me that he heard I had a bad attitude about it and the VP was raising hell.
2 weeks later I was terminated. -
That says a hell of a lot about Maverick if they'll fire a guy over a tarp having the wrong lettering on it.

For learning securement they are great. Anybody that wants to get into flatbed would be fine starting there. It's for sure a get your time in and get out place though.
I didn't necessarily get fired over the lettering. I got fired because the VP was being a dick and decided to keep it going when I didn't put up with his ####. I got fired entirely because some guy on a power trip decided that I disrespected him.

What I didn't understand about the Deal was U usually pickup a Piece that needs Rebuilding and take it back to Milwaukee, isn't this Piece gonna get Rebuilt?DDlighttruck, cke, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this. -
The customer out there was being kinda flaky from the beginning. They didn't really like shipping it off site. If something were to happen to the piece during transit there is no replacement. Not that my company has ever had damage happen in 30+ years of hauling these.PeteyFixAll, Ruthless, DDlighttruck and 3 others Thank this. -

We were on track to load over night from Wednesday to Thursday. Tuesday afternoon NB pulled my permit for a bridge review at the end of the day. Customer found out and got nervous again and changed their mind because they didn't think we could get the permit.
They also called me panicking because there's a 2KM hill at 11% grade and they didn't think I could pull it even though I told the multiple times it would be fine.
That's the worst part of these things. A bunch of engineers who spent too much money on school but have never been around a truck trying to tell us how to drive.
I've had a couple times where they will walk up with some fancy CAD drawing showing me how they are going to load my trailer. It usually winds up that they want to load 30K in the first or last 15ft of the deck and then put all the small stuff spread out over the rest of the trailer. I usually let them know that we are not following the drawing and will be loading it my way.
